OK gents, I've been flying the Dolly flag at the autocross with the Boston BMW club.

The Day started off crappy, I had put replacement dizzy in that I got from Mart (cheers mate) on friday night but had not had chance to run the car until setting off at 6am on sunday. Got a few mile from home and te car started missfiring. stopped and had a look at it and found nothing wrong. drove another few miles and still missfired and would barely pull up the hills. Had a problem starting it a few days earlier and popped off the cap and put it back on making no changes and it fired up. OK i thought I'll change the cap so stopped again and made the change. No difference. pushed on at 50mph as it ran ok'ish on the flat at this speed. stopped again after a while and popped the cap off and noticed the sensor for the pertronix/aldon ignitor was touching the rotor. made a few adjustments to get some clearence and set off again. it ran a bit better but was still far from right. Anyway arrived at the event with minutes to spare after waking up a few small towns with some serious backfires. Did drivers meeting and walked the course then rushed back over to the car to doo some more fiddling. A bit more methodical troubleshooting pinpointed the pertronix unit as the problem so popped in some points and the old bird fired right up. set the timing, stuck on me lid and hit the track. car was missing at high rpm so i feel i could have gone faster, but it seems I didn't need to! Hopefully I'll get a few more events in before the end of the season.Look out for me in class I somewhere down the page.
