I need some advice.<br>
I've been dolomiteless for nearly a year, and now it's time to get rid of my Spitfire. My wife has just passed her test, and being short on parking space, (and the council having painted a yellow line in front of my house)<br>
it's time to get rid of it and get a more practical car that she can turn the steering wheel of, get to stop, and not break down in every 5 minutes. (There is no way I can have or afford 3 cars).<br>

Anyway, my Spitfire has a few extra bits and I need advice as to whether I should strip off as many non-standard bits and ebay them, or sell it as one. The paintwork is generally OK with some scabby bits. All the interior has been replaced, and mechanically it is good.<br>

Anyway the extra bits are:<br>
<br>
Fully balanced engine, moss stage 3 head, sports manifold and exhaust. <br>
Spax shocks all round<br>
Big front anti-roll bar, rear anti roll bar.<br>
Vented discs (spaced out GT6 stuff with capri discs)<br>
14" Minilite style alloys with no kerbing.<br>

Your advice would be gratly appreciated.<br>

(Isn't it quite depressing when you look at how much something is worth and how much you have spent on it!)

Surely its worth more complete even if it is a bit scabby?<br>

I would think you would struggle to get £400 forn the engine even though it probably cost you 4 times that figure. The Spax might go for 50% of what you paid for them. The Minilites would probably go for £180ish. What sort of money do you think its worth complete?<br>

I meant take the bits off and put standard stuff back, so the car could be sold as a runner.<br>

It's very difficult to say what it is worth, as Jonners would say "It's worth what anyone would pay for it". <br>
It had a valuation for £3500 2 years ago, but lets face it, a valuation based on 4 photographs and some receipts is pretty meaningless...<br>

I could't be bothered to remove the whole engine, but I might swap the head. It would cost £500+ new from Moss.<br>

Wheels have 4 nearly new goodyear eagle F1's on them.<br>

I suppose I need to add up how much I could reasonably expect from each scenario. <br>
Never tried to sell a Spit before, something tells me that it won't shift too quick...Would it sell easier if it was standard(ish)?<br>

Because of the Mods you put off people who just want a Spit cos they wont want the insurance headaches.<br>

The question is ..do you want one again in the future. Be VERY realistic in your assessment of this...time house kids, life all get in the way.<br>
If the answer is yes and your assesment is good you stand only a 50% chance of ebaying the bits in 5 years time for peanuts instead of using them. Is it then worth the hassle of taking them off balanced against the value to you of keeping them for the future against the increased chance of selling it.<br>
Ive got sheds full of kept bits I'll never use.<br>

I've got a MKIII with a fair few mods and really the likes of Lancaster do not seem bothered. Bodywork and interior are far more important - there are loads of rancid ones out there.<br>
<br>
Worth a punt on the bay (but not ideal coming into autumn) or (spits) the TSSC rag and sell on the basis of build and reliability.<br>

If the minilites are good and the tyres are nearly new - I would expect them to go for between 300 and 400 pounds (a set recently went for more than this on ebay)- 14x6 minilites are a sought after mod on any of the smaller triumphs (bearing in mind they will fit dollys,toledos,heralds,vitesses,spits and gt6´s). The sports six club sell them new with tyres and nuts for over 700 pounds - even if you do sell the car complete it may be worth selling the wheels separately if you still have the old steel ones to put back on
