Justyn, can I get back to you about this, I know for a fact that Ben wants to have a period radio sat in the console while having a modern CD player tucked in the glove box. test them both, if one is crap, then thats the one i'll take off your hands.

Actually, thinking about it, if any club members have a knackered radio that looks the part but doesnt work, i'm sure that would fit nicely as well...<img src=

I tested them and the radio bit works ok on mw and lw but not fm<img src=
http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> . the tape bit plays too fast for a few seconds then spits the tape out!!! maybe a stretched drive belt?
Might the tape problem be the capstan roller?

IIRC the actual winding head can go round much faster than is needed, it's the capstan roller that keeps the speed constant and correct.

So if the roller rubber has disintegrated (more than possible given the age) then the tape would travel too quickly, and the radio might think that's a bit wrong and spit it out.

Not sure, I'm certainly no expert, I just waste far too much time trying to fix worthless junk rather than chuck it away! <img src=

Spoke to Ben, apparently he has found one in the miniature black hole he uses as a storeroom.

Thanks anyway Justyn.
