Dear Folks.<br>

I have been watching and reading the forum for about 4 months now. I'm dying to buy a Sprint. <br>
<br>
In 1980 I purchased my first Sprint for £200 (Yellow - WYO555M) it was my first car (I had an Escort MKII Van before). I loved my Sprint. However, I spent most of the weekends working on the car.<br>
<br>
Now some 23 years later I am trying to find some good reasons to buy a Sprint - I NEED YOUR HELP?<br>
<br>
What are your favourite reasons that you justify to your "other-half" the NEED to have/own/and keep a Sprint?<br>
<br>
For starters:<br>
I am hitting 40 this year - and a Sprint would be just the thing to mitigate a mid-life crises.<br>
<br>
Your help would be much appreciated.<br>

First - Buy the best one you can afford unless you are a spanner monkey.<br>

Character.........& if you need any others to 'sell'the concept to the other half.....followed by the Egineering of that 16V Cylinder head, a masterpiece of design back in 1973. In their day the Sprints were one of the best sport saloons on the Market. Most of the lads had RS2000's, nice cars but didn't quite have the class that a Dolly Sprint Had. Bought my first in 1982, never been without one since, or two, or three <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :b --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> .<br>

I bought ny first Sprint 18 months ago and it's been a real pain. Time, effort, money, and I wouldn't swap it for anything (most things anyway!). Go ahead and do it...whatever you buy, you'll love.

I am truly impressed by the response! If this is the support I receive even when I don’t yet have a Sprint – I can only imagine what it will be like when I’m a fully paid-up owner-member.<br>

I think I have enough reasons why I should buy a Sprint – and THANK YOU for all your suggestions.<br>
<br>
However, I still need your help – here goes:<br>
<br>
1. Where is the best place to purchase a Sprint (Private/Trade/Auctions/Clubs)<br>
2. Assuming a “standard” Sprint what TWO ITEMS would you replace/repair and how much (Poly Bushes, Adjustable Spax), Etc?<br>
3. I understand there is a club meeting in Beale Park, Reading – Is it a family day out or is it for Sprint Lovers only?<br>

What I've always loved about the Sprint is its ability to be a jack of all trades - it can be a motorway cruiser with the family travelling in luxury or a trackday racer. It can be whatever you want it to be and does it all in classic British style. And despite what wives tales you hear sprint engines aren't that complex to work on when they do break down.<br>

I dont think there is a best place to buy a Sprint - just persevere and ye shall find. Club members are probably your best bet but an enthuiast knows the true value of a good car so will probably cost you more. <br>
<br>
I wouldn't buy one from an Auction (ebay especially) though without seeing the car up close first unless you assume its going to need a lot of work. That way you can only be pleasantly surprised!<br>
<br>

Andrew in answer to your questions<br>
1. my house (see above for email address)<br>
2. keep it standard, maybee a stainless exhaust and maybe leccy ignition.<br>
3. I will be going to Beale park and I believe all are welcome however I dont suppose many of our friends in the North will make the trip as it is the week before our big doo at RAF Cosford, see the events page for details as this is a must attend for anyone with a dolly in their blood...<br>

All us Dollies are put in the same Place so will see you there.<br>
