On Behalf of all members...

I would like to thank Andy P for organising an excellent show today at Cosford. His and all other members who put in such an effort into manning the stall and organising the event made the day a really enjoyable one.

Thanks also for the guys who got involved in the 'Hunt for Matt Cotton reliability run around the midlands'. Next year I may forget my brain completely and call upon you guys to transport it up from Oxfordshire against the clock!
Sorry for any undue stress caused by my error!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o">

Likewise it was a Great show and it was good to be back on the TDC scene properly after a long time away - I hope to get my car up to the same cosmetic standard at some stage - well done and many thanks to all that were involved.

Oh and thanks to Alun for the Bacon butties, to Jod for the tour of the West Midlands Travel/Holiday Inns (what was that all about?) and thanks to the chap from Plymouth who stopped to check we were OK when my throttle cable snapped on the motorway.

so much for the event.

It was so good to meet people in the flesh and put a face to an email address!!

I think that the TDC has some great and dedicated members, I know that quite a few non-members read this message board and are not yet members, my advice is JOIN UP!

Regards and many thanks
MaddMart & Smifter. As for the tour of West Midlands Travel Inns, are you going to tell him Matt C or do you want to keep it under your hat <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Thanks to all involved in organising the event. I thought it went well & what great weather (who organised that. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> )

Thanks to Alun, also, for the tea & bacon butties.

As for the tour of the West Mids. Graeme, I believe it was a case of "right junction, wrong motorway".

throttle cable

Anyone not had at least one snap? Last one of mine went at midnight at Steatham high road. I was fumbling under the dashboard lookingh for the end of the cable when there was a knock on the window. I wound it down and this woman asked me if I was looking for something. Being young and innocent I said yes and promptly got a price list for some unusual services! Happened twice more befroe I got going again.Busy place Streatham on a Sunday night.

Well it seems that you all enjoyed yourselves enormously, which I'm very pleased to hear <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> .Thanks to everyone who helped out and thanks also to everyone who turned up and helped make the event a huge success! We were very fortunate with the weather (I can't take the credit for that though <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> ) and I do feel that Cosford is a superb venue for an event such as this.Sadly,I don't think it'll be possible to hold TDCIR at Cosford next year as the area we used will be a building site from next April. We really ought to start thinking about a venue/date for next year's event soon,we don't want a repeat of the clash in dates which we had this time (the TSSC in their wisdom brought their Duxford event forward to clash with the Triumph World Picnic/Southern Dolly Day,then Andrew Greenwood decided to hold a Triumph/MG show at Donnington on the same day as our TDCIR,which also clashed with the Mile of Triumphs show in Great Yarmouth).
So...thinking caps on - ideas for next year's TDCIR please?
-Andy.
TDCIR'04

How about a venue which offers camping and caravan facilites (static and/or towed) possibly offering other (family ?) entertainment in a Midlands location. I'm thinking along the lines of somewhere like Drayton Manor or that big water park near Tamworth (Kingsbury ?).

Well Andy, having been to quite a few shows/rallies etc over the last 18 months or so, I've been giving some thought as to what makes for a good event. It seems to me that the best ones are at an established venue (rather than moving around), provide a range of accomodation either at the site or close by (camping, towed caravan, static caravan at the site, or B+B), and offer other attractions (if not at the site then in the local area).
I had a look on the internet earlier and Staffordshire isn't short of accomodation or attractions (Drayton Manor, Alton Towers etc). I could look into this a little more deeply if you like and come up with some ballpark figures (maybe a little further afield too). Butlins ? no, Maplins Hi-De-Hi <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

(Oh and thanks to you and everyone else involved for a great day at Cosford on Sunday)

They also have a test track for hire - we could have the usual show plus a little driving challenge!

I know its not as central as most would like but theres plenty of decent places to stay and maddmart & I could give a tour of the Avon ring road<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">
