Ebay 4602550075 triumph 1500tc decsribed as classic tax, when i asked the seller said <br>
because its registered in dublin it is tax exempt although its not pre 73.!!!!<br>

It just says that it qualifies for 'classic tax and insurance' Justyn. That doesn't mean tax exempt as I understand it.<br>

I think its a lower rate of vehcile excise licence in Ireland for classics but not free.<br>
<br>
It's an ex board members car I seem to remember.<br>

I emailed him and he gave the impresion that it was tax exempt in uk cos of irish car tax laws.<br>
Any idea how tidy the car is/ is it worth bidding on?<br>

The only way it would be tax exempt in the UK is if it was manufactured before 1973 as you have already said.<br>

Wouldn't it be hassle getting it back from Dublin? If its the same one, it did look very nice. Went for £500ish last time.<br>

Good 1500TC's seem to be more easy to come by so I wouldn't be in a rush.<br>

Same as importing a car from any foreign country you have two choices.<br>
<br>
1) Leave it registered abroad, car must remain legal to use on the road in it's home country in addition to being insured for here. That means you have to take it home for it's equivalent of the MOT each year and keep it taxed there too. I believe there are limits on how long you can do this.<br>
<br>
2) Register it with the DVLA, you are then bound by our regs. When registering the year of manufacture must be declared unless the car has been previously registered here in which case they will already know.<br>

It's my car that's on ebay at the mo. I did point out to those that emailled me that the car is eligible for classic tax and insurance IN IRELAND. This means that tax for the year comes to 60 Euros, no matter what car it is, engine size etc. As long as it's over 30 years old.<br>

Sorry if there was any confusion caused. And the car is in good shape, having recently had the alternator replaced and it also has a new battery. I just don't have the time or space for it now.<br>
<br>
I haven't registered it here yet so it's still got its English plates. I can drop it down to Dublin port should anyone be interested in bidding for it.<br>
