Greetings from USA Sprint Owner

Hi, all.

My name is Richard Truett from Detroit, Michigan. Some of you may know me from my activities of eBay, where I bought two Sprints last year. Both now reside in the USA. The first one I bought I did not keep. It is a red 1975, OUD777P. The body was fairly crusty, but I learned enough about Dolly Sprints to know that I had to have the best example I could find. I bought a restored white Sprint on eBay last fall. That one is a white 1977, OMK 172R. I will try to attach a photo.

Anyway, here in Detroit, the Sprint is causing a sensation. even people who hate foreign cars ask me about the Sprint. The car has a huge reputation here and probably would have been the one Triumph sedan that would have succeeded here.

Cheers,
Richard Truett

Hi Richard,

I'm not suprised that it turns heads and I reckon that it would have sold well.

I take it you are aware of the other USA sprint owners? A couple of them frequent the board. I have heard of a guy who races a Sprint who I believe is in the Florida area.

Enjoy it and let us have some pictures.

It may also be worth joining our club here as the service items you will require from time to time are in good supply and excellent value.
Hi Richard

Glad to hear the Sprint is causing a sensation over there, don't think it ever did over here. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
Hi Richard,

What happened to OUD then? Did it stay Stateside?

Do you still have the '7s too?
where OUD went

I put OUD back on fleabay and sold within 2 hours for $5,000, roughly what I paid for it. It went down to Georgia where it has been kicking butt in various timed rallies. It lives with a Stag and a Herald.

FYi: There are about 15 Dollies in the USA, all but a Sprint.
There's at least one 2500S -- mine. I just bought one a month ago.
I sold my TR7 Sprint and my TR8 conversion. I just have one TR now, a 1971 TR6.

Here's a link to a photo of my two Sprints before OUD left Detroit for warmer climes. This may have been the only house in North America with Sprints in the driveway!
Hi Richard,

Welcome to the insane world of Dolly ownership <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

I've got a 1979 1500HL Dolly which I brought only 4 weeks ago! I've already come to realise that you have to be not of quite sound mind to own one!

I mean, instead of looking in clothes and shoe shops, I now spend my time thinking about what car parts I have to/want to buy next <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

Hello Richard,

welcome to the board. My car is almost back together, haven't fitted the carbs you sent me yet, I'm going to run it on the standard ones for the first 500 miles before I re-torque the head.

I'm going to e-mail you about the 15 Dollies in NA.

Cheers
Mark
