Might be of interest, even if its just for spares. From the description it would be a shame to break though
I know that dead dolomite society is really after this as his shell is apparently knackered. It's local to him as well. Would be nice if he finally got his hands on something reasonable. I'm sure he could be tempted to sell the engine and stuff on as I don't think he will be needing that.
Wouldn't it still be the same result, ie one dolomite sprint down, if a good Sprint shell is used to restore another Sprint with a poor shell? Seems a lot of effort to effectively still scrap a Sprint in my mind?

I am prepared to buy the ebay car and eventually put it back on the road as it came out of the box.

I have a good rolling shell with no identity whatsoever, which would be a far better proposition to reshell a rotten sprint as the car that belonged to the shell has long gone at the hands of others...

Hopefully he will read this and get in touch. Its actually an 1850 that he wants to get back on the road. Left to him by his Grandad.

Well the shell I have used to be a carmine 1850...

Very sound, but needs paint. Its the Terryman shell I bought a while back. Owes me about 160 but would get overtaken in the project stakes if a simple re-assembly/finishing job came along...

Mind, oxdonian has been quiet of late; I expect he will take interest in this one...

...more so now that I have reminded myself it was originally a Magenta Sprint...so few originals left in this colour...

magenta?

am i right in thinking that magenta is purple, about the same colour as the slaters front door on east enders,
i think its a nice colour nearly bought that 1500 that was on ebay 3 or 4 times but would of destroyed it turning it in to a sprint.
think about this shell as i've only got two sprints, need to do a bit opf catching up with some on this board<img src=

hi all

thanks to scott for giving me a mention.

alun i see your point only problem is im crying out for a shell that i can use and finally get going

i have let a few slip through my fingers for no valid reason and when i saw this on door step i thought this may be the one.

i would not stand in any ones way of getting some thing they really want as i said to scott. maybe we could talk shop about your shell if your willing?

The other handy thing is that Alun has a trailer. I won't have ready access to one in a few days. I'd go with the ex terryman shell and I can put you in touch with someone who can spray it reasonably.
This might seem to some as a contradiction of my points regarding discussing who is and who isn't going to bid on ebay items, but it shouldn't. My motive here is to prevent a potentially good car disappearing to preserve another potentially good car with added sentimental value to its owner.

I am somewhat fortunate to have the space and wherewithall to buy things for later on. I have a written off 1500 shell for CAB which will benefit from new wings and front panels that I have. I bought the Terryman car as he advertised it whole after much critisism from me in particular from cutting cars up that could otherwise be used. I do have something I could do with it, but one commodity I lack is time. As Ian Hazelhurst will verify from his witness earlier today, I have amassed projects now that could easily take me from here to retirement.

I would just shudder to see this car sold and then broken down for its constituent parts value. There are many out there (and on here, despite contrary protestation) who would do just that, either by intent or loss of interest shortly after. I spent this afternoon trying to regain a semblance of garden; I moved two Sprint engines (there are at least six others around the house) three complete subframe assemblies and three rear axles. These are all parts taken from cars years ago or bought in as spares through ebay/or other. There are many others I know of who are hoarders such as myself. There is yet to develop a situation such as witnessed in Jensen circles where a broken car is pounced upon as the ONLY source of parts.

I'm currently outbid on the project (which I refuse to describe as a rust free shell) as I only marked it as a nominal bid as my watch list is full. I will bid again; if I win then I will certainly talk to DDS regarding the terryman shell at cost plus small condsideration. If I don't win then conversations can still be held...we are fast approaching where a good 1850 will be a rare beast indeed...

Well I'm selling mine as whole ones - after you guys eductaed me (and I genuinely mean that in the nicest possible way) about keeping cars as they were originally intended.

I have worked out already that I have less space and less wherewithall than you Alun....but I do now have one good one - I hope - so no need to reshell that sprint into an 1850. Its going well on the bay though.

Just a thought Alun, if it really doesn't need any welding at all, this might be a good project for the restoration show this year? at least there wouldn't be so much noise/risk of fire? Plus all that free labour would be a big plus...<img src=
