Nasty noises

Decided to take my Sprint out today and got a rather nasty shock. It started OK but under acceleration it drove like a pig, I changed the dizzy cap as it was looking a bit rough and checked the timing which was OK. It seemed to be OK provided you didn't boot it when it popped and eventually went bang loudly from the carb area. The car seemed to run fine recently. I'm not sure whether it's my fave problem of fuel blockages or whether it's something more serious. It ticksover fine but give it any load and it's a mess. <br>
