COLOURS

Here goes with what I can remember, hopefully Alun will put me right on the ones I miss/get wrong!
From 1972 to 1976
Saffron Not Sprint
Pimento
Mimosa
Carmine
BRG
White
Honeysuckle
Ice Blue Not Sprint
French Blue
Delft Blue
Mallard Dead rare. Sprint Only?
Maple
Magenta Originals rare. Sprint only for 1974.
1976 Onwards
Russett
White
Black 1500SE only
Vermillion
Carmine
Brooklands
Tahiti 1976 and 1977
Pageant From 1978
Flamenco Unusual
Inca
Sandglow
I think thats about it as far as I know. I believe that some early 1850s did appear in some of the older colours. The one in the 1972 promotional trip to the Dolomites, VKV 114J, is I think Damson, there is a very early car in Valencia and I have also seen an 1850 in either Gunmetal or Slate, I'm not sure which.
(Well you did ask!)

Few corrections....

Saffron, Mallard and Damson had bitten the dust by end 73 I reckon. Saffron was never popular (worse than catsick sorry sandglow) but I had one that colour (my first ever! 72 )

Ive never seen a Valencia one or a Flamenco one.
Emarald was available on 1850's and Sprints in 74. Ive seen 2 original cars in this colour.

Only ever seen an Ice blue Toledo.

Think Ive seen a Saphire early one as well.

Which is French and which is delft? Madmarts track car is one of those I think.

I remember a neighbours R plate 1850 in a nice mid (royal) blue that wasnt tahiti...(no slight hint of turquoise)

Rob Grainger's original 1850 auto is a funny green. I think its too dark for brooklands but is on an S plate but has many earlier (non HL) features.

The Sprint on the left was an Ice Blue. Originally auto but changed to man/od. I scrapped it years ago.
Sapphire was, as far as I know, only available in 1974. Had an M reg Sprint in it, suited the car very well.

i,ve read on here that there were a few black sprints made, i find this interesting because i had one in the late 80's, was never sure if it was origional or not, never found any sign of another colour.
as it happens there's one on ebay at the 'mo'
anyone got anymore info on that

I'd forgotten all about Emerald and Sapphire. I would agree that the latter was only available about 74. The only Mallard Sprint that I've seen was an M reg so I assume that would be about the same time.
Flamenco I've only seen twice, both S reg a 1300 and a 1500HL.
I believe that Steve Lesters early 1850 is Valencia isn't it?
Late mallards...

Those are very late for mallards I reckon....

Most had flown south by then...

(sorry)

So Mart what colour is yer track ship then? And that ice blue one looked nice...why did you scrap it?

How does mallard look on a Stag? I reckon it used to go very bloomy and fade so wasnt popular, although it looked great when it was new. Come to think of it a lot of Triumphs darker blue colours used to do that...

My stag is being done in 2 pack Saphire. btw.
Jonners, Sapphire is a great colour, always regretted selling that Sprint. Definately only available in '74 (for Sprints anyway). Have a Triumph colour chart from that year showing it.

I may regret asking this & apologies in advance as I know it's not the correct place, but, anyone know of any first class Sprints for sale in pageant? (always had a soft spot). Must be excellent, as definately not going down resto path that I,ve done so mant times.

The track car is French Blue. TBH I think the Ice Blue one could probably have been saved, looking at some of the projects taken on on this board. There was rot in all the usual places IIRC. I know it was too much for me to do. I did strip it right down though & still have a full set of glass in the garage loft.
