Boot lock removal

Hi. Still prepping the replacement bootlid for 1300 Dolly. I just need to swap over the locks. How do I do this? I don't have a key for the lock on the replacement, hence the need to swap them around. I know it's trivial but thanks in advance<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
Cheers
You remove the striker plate (3 bolts) and then you can remove the lock barrel by roating the spring clip on the inside 90 deg and it comes out. I've done it enough times on Baby Blue!

Two types of boot lock with different spring clips. One rotates 90 degrees to release, the other has a pair of lugs which require depressing. Can't tell which you have until the striker plate is off.
Have spare bootlocks and keys if needed...

Even more work to do now that I've got another 1300FWD to strip for parts, arrgghhh. I WILL be asking about engine/gearbox removal over the next few days. Pass the Diazepam please<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">

Had to dig this one up from a few weeks back as wanted to thank Alun as I found my lock was the type with the lugs.

Spent ages trying to twist it through 90 degrees - as stated by the Factory manual and Haynes, only to root through these to find Alun's post about the lugs.
If you have a boot lock mechanism without a key, you can usually find the key number stampted somewhere on the block. They seem to be in the FS series so just add FS in front of the 3 digits on the bloack. Last time I lost a key Moss had a fairly full set of FS keys at next to nothing.
I guess you mean not on the engine block.

I found the number stamped into the glovebock lock when I was trying to open a car at the scrap yard, had the key made up local from this number to return with the key, it opened the boot but alas there was nothing of great interest in there .

The key cost £1.00 to be made - guess this is the price of curiosity then
