My '78 1500HL has steel headlamp surrounds - are these correct or should they be black?

...seem to recall that the early Dolomite bodied 1500fwd were shiny bright (up to about 1972?) but that the 1500HL were certainly black. Any feedback from 1500 owners to clarify?

I think all the round headlight Dolomite badged cars had the black headlight surround to compliment the new black grill.
The 1500fwd and 1500tc had the sliver surround along with the silver painted slotted type grill.
I've seen them swapped about and think they both look good
