When we took KAC's front wings off, which are the same one's as it wears today, it was done like this...
Remove headlamp mounting panel, and sidelight/indicator assembly.
Clean up the top mounting channel, sill flange, and front edge with wire brush in angle grinder to locate spot welds.
Drill out spot welds with spot weld drill. Leaves nice holes for plug welding back on!)

There were no welds on the rear flange, ie A post joint.
At the joint between the wing, and front panel, ie where the indicator is, the joint had been brazed, and this was heated with a torch to seperate it. Apparently this should have been welded.

Then using a thin chisel/scraper, the joints were seperated, and we put the Kettle on!

It took a couple of hours to do, and to be fair, when it came to re-fitting, having fitted new inner wings, it took a long time to get the alignment correct, but it is worth it in the end.

If you want to talk it throgh further, feel free to give me a call.
