Can anyone wire a gearstick?

I've been trying unsuccessfully to find out how to get the correct wire for my gearstick to connect the overdrive harness to the switch. The one in moss had the wrong connectors on it, and Rimmers sent me the o/d harness itself. Has anybody had to replace this bit before, and if so could they tell me where they got either the wire itself or the connectors for it? Or better still, would anybody wire it for me for beer?

You will have a problem if you do not have an old one as the connectors to the o/d switch are specials and I do not know where you can get them. However if you have an old one you can solder the new wires onto the old connectors as this is what I have done in the past.<br>

The connectors at the other end are just standard bullet connectors. These can either be the solder type or the the crimpted type.<br>

I would strongly recommend using normal household 5amp sheathed two core as the sheath will provide extra protection where the cable goes through the holes in the gear stick. <br>

I had one big one, and one small one. The big one fitted fine, the small one had actually fallen out of the socket, and was causing the fusing. I kept all the connectors, though. Moss have a replacement switch, but I'm loath to replace something that works.

looks different to original but does actually fit better. Does it have tubular connectors at the switch end and bullets at the other? The tube bit is actually slit down one side and this slit goes over the pins in the switch.<br>
Done several and the worst bit is getting the wires down the stick. Fixing wires to switch needs care and some needle nosed pliers but is usually fine<br>

O/D Harness

I am in the process of fitting a 1500 o/d box to my Dolly.<br>
Having got all the bits for the conversion, I found that the gearlever's harness was knackered.<br>
Having mentioned to Malc England that I would try and make up a new one, he told me that

I have oredered 3, 1 for myself and 2 for club stock. If they are any good it may solve the problem. £6.50 each.
