My fuel gage shoots straight past full even though its empty but my fuel light works OK, could any one tell me if I need to replace my gage or sender thanks.

PS my fuel gage has condensation in it, I don't now if this is relevant.

Hi, my gauge only works between half and full and like you the low light works - I thought it might be the sender but I haven't gotten around to buying a new one (yet)

Full is the new Empty

IIRC, if you earth out the positive feed to the tanl sender, the guage will read full. So if you are "full on empty" then i would suspect a dodgy Fuel tank Sender unit. Unlikely to be the guage itself, but could be a Voltage stabliser problem if you Temp Guage is also out of sync

Mine only goes up to half. Could it be the same thing?

Half Pint

Was that half full or half empty <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> A guage that only goes to half is an easier test. Wip the lead of the sender at the tank and touch to earth the guage should now rise to full. This will eliminate the guage. Then you have to deternie if it id the Voltage Stabilser of the tank Sender unit that is duff. As a rule of thumb, thus not entirely foolproof, but my experience of voltage stabilisers is that they get gummed and corroded inside which tends to give a higher reading on temp gauge and fuel guage

as the guage reads full that there isnt a wire shorting out somewhere in the boot...
Else its the sender...disconnect the wire and look at the guage..if it goes to E then its the sender...
That's OK. Can you bear with me though, I haven't had time to test them tonight but if you can wait 'till Friday I'll try and get them to you by then.
