sigh.... any guesses before i look tomorrow boys?

the other day i went to use my car and the batt was dead...boom ....jumpstarted it and off i went...used the car fine for 2 days then last night after comming out of the night club i went to use my car to get home and boom...... dead...

bumpstarted it and off i went ( slightly embarresing as i had the girl i just pulled in the passanger seat
( volt meter in the car showing the normal reading ) ...worked fine...got home.. car getting lots of lovley charge from the alternator

i used to car today everything working fine

came out of the pub just now and got into the car ......started fine... but watched in horror as my volts just dropped infrount of my eyes

only just got it home...stuttering as the batt stuggled to even give a nice spark

what could this be? ......im charging up the batt and will run a couple of tests tomorrow

i hope its not the alternator i had it uprated and reconned because the stereo system in my car used to make the lights flicker when bass came in

can batterys die like that? just stop picking up charge?

maybe a earth wire or ive fried the main power feed?

suggestions ?

Battery or ?

How old is the Battery and wot make.

Are you running amp's with the Stereo and are they live all the time?.(Poss Draining Battery).

Where did you get the Alternator from and is it charging don't rely on the Volt gauge inside the car use a separate meter.
Also check the connecter on the back of the alternater they do burn out.

Try disconneting the battery when you leave the car and see if it's start's later when reconneted?(Next day).
A two year old battery may well be getting upset with the loading your stereo system is putting on it. Car batteries are designed for loads of power all in one big hit, for operating the starter. Being continually discharged by a large power amp or big headlights can cause internal damage and will stop the battery accepting a full charge.

Similarly, running the battery hard will also make the alternator work harder and wear out quicker. First stop would be a new battery. There is space in the bay for a larger battery if you are prepared to modify the clamp to fit..

looks like the batt is had its last cigge !

its been on charge all night.. not enough to start the car

drop tested it .......and turned on the lights and just watched the volts drop on the multimeter. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/sick.gif ALT=":x">

there was no amps in the batt either <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

so i guess we can say i have one shagged batt <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

get the voltage/wattage off the old one or look it up in a manual what battery is used on the sprint. I'm sure Halfords or any good factors will have one.
Why don't you. At the end of the day, you looking for a 12v neg with about 40 amp per hour. I'm sure some modern day cars still use the same.

Ask an oldish fella, he will know what a Dolomite is! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
