rev counter wiring connections

hi i have a dolomite rev counter that i am fitting to my robin hood kit car. on the back of it theres 2 conectors one bullet one spade i take it one is off the -ve the other will be a live (does it have to be a voltage regulator?) can anyone tell me what one is what? <br>

Tab on body of rev counter: earth<br>
<br>
(insulated) spade connector on back of instrument, +12v (unregulated or regulated, don't think it matters)<br>
<br>
Bullet connector: trigger from points side of coil.<br>

Bullit connecter Pulse lead from igintion coil ve-<br>
Spade terminal Fused Ignition switch feed<br>
<br>
There's also a spade teminal on the back of the Revcounter housing this go's to earth.<br>
