can anyone tell me the way to bypass the the ballast for this coil.<br>

The ballast is built into the loom, its a length of resistance wire, you would need to strip the loom to remove it. Far easier to run a new wire, but why do you need to? The ballasted feed / 6V coil idea is a good one.<br>

Assuming you now have a 12v coil. Leave the original +ve lead off (tape it up). Run a new lead from the the fuse box on the ignition side (the side that's only live when the ignition is on) to the +ve side of the coil.

so what do i gain from doing this then .<br>
a continuous 12v spark = stronger spark?<br>
i've got magnacor leads fitted so want to make the mopst of them<br>

so if iam looking at the fuse box , i was going to connect the coil to the right hand bottom terminals , does this sound ok??

Yes you'll get a stronger spark. Bottom right hand terminals is correct.

Not cessinarily. A standard coil is wound to produce a healthy running spark off 6V, normally it gets a bit more, around 7v. During starting it is overdriven even more reciving 9-10.5v typically giving a really really fat spark to get you going on those cold mornings. <br>

A 12V coil is rated to give a good healthy running spark off 12V. In normal running it would get about 14v, i.e be overdriven by the same proportion as the 6v coil getting 7v. The windings are different to the 6v coil so that the power in and power out are basically the same (take a bow Mr Ohm). But come that winter morning it is only getting the same 9-10.5v, a large under instead of over drive. Who left the swan vestas out in the rain?<br>

Like Jod says, ballasted coils are a good idea.<br>

Don't even think about running a 6v coil off 12v full time, it'll overheat in a few minutes. Save that idea for Santa Pod.<br>

I'll spilt the postage with you if you want to go the latter route. Weak is the dollar now hmmmm?<br>
