Sprint head blanking plate mod

I'm in the process of installing a right-angle fitting into the blanking plate of my cylinder head. The idea being to get the same effect as fitting the rare ST blanking plate with outlet (i.e. equalised cylinder head temp).

Can anyone tell me how the plumbing goes from this fitting into the cooling system?
Take a look on rimmers web site it's shown on the TR7 cooling system. I followed it when doing mine it's quite simple.

Ok, just had a look at Rimmers - found the following pics

this one shows the adaptor plate at the rear of the head

this one is heater assembly

this one is heater hoses

so does the hose from the adaptor plate go into the heater matrix? then what? I must be missing something (haven't had any coffee yet <img src=

The hose does indeed go from the cylinder head to the heater matrix the other heater outlet then goes to a t piece that connects to the inlet manifold and the water pump cover. It certainly makes my heater very hot but turning on the interior heater in severe traffic does help cool things down well.

I used a brass fuel supply t piece this replaces the old heater h piece and as its brass no corrosion.

If I F'low Correctly

I can see how this sucks the hot coolant out of the back of the head straight into the heater matrix (hence hot heater) and from the Heater into the water pump. When the heater is on cold and thus 'shut off' form the circuit, presumably the hot coolant exits the head via the manifold and gets sucked straight into water pump via T piece. Do I f'low correctly and does it make much diff the the overall running temp of the cooling system

I was reading my factory manual last night (as you do) all about the heater actually and to my understanding it seemed that the coolant was always flowing through the heater matrix, but you only felt hot air when you opened the appropriate flap...

Of course that goes against the instruction to "turn heater controls to hot" when draining the cooling system...

Think i might read that bit again... <img src=

There's a valve that shuts off the water flow thorugh the heater matrix when the control lever is set to cold.

not that

any sprint owner has ever turned of the flow thru the heater!<img src=

Yup i picked up on the water valve on my second read through.

I've had a thought about this mod - now i believe alan's setup looks like this:
(T-piece)

Heater
| |
| \__ Head
|
|-.
| |
| |
WP Manifold

with H piece removed so water only flows from rear of head when heater water valve is open.
What i thought would improve upon this is:
(T-piece, H-piece)

Heater
| |
| |---- Head
|-|
| |
| |
WP Manifold

So that water can always flow from the back of the head whether heater water valve is open or not??

What do people think?
Turn a heater to cold in a Sprint, nahh, Sprint owners too smart, if you've paid for the heater, you might as well use it <img src=

2 Exit

Theoretically, the T Piece & H Piece would allow the hot water to exit the head in two places, the rear of the head and the manifold. Dunno how one works out the dynamics of coolant flow, so perhaps one doesn't. I'm tempted to try some experiments through the summer. Creative diagram, nice one <img src=
