Twice now i have taken my stainless exhuast apart in the hope of sealing the joints after an engine out job. I have cleaned all the joints and used an assembly paste ( fairly liberally ) around the inner pipe before sliding over the outer. Two have sealed this time but two have not. It's a horrid job at the best of times but i am fast losing patience with this. I did it first on a hot day and the paste seemed to go off slightly as i could not start it for a while. This time on a colder but mild day i started it soon after and it still leaked. Looks like it is mainly around the slot that is clamped together. Not sure of the make but the back box looks standard and i have a stailess downpipe..<br>
Any tips..<br>

with slotted sleeve over joints is not to use a U clamp.<br>
MAke sure the pipes slide over far enough so the the inner pipe is well below the bottom of the slots. Use a clamp that completely wraps around the joint and is wide enough to cover the slots. Dont do it up too tight.<br>
Run it and feel the escaping gas if any with your fingers...<br>
switch off and use the paste over where the gas was escaping from. ABout 80% success rate for me.<br>

Should do them...but most auto factors have them as well. I think the Sprint system is 2 inches. The ordinary dolli is 1+7/8<br>
