the problem would be to fit a full size tailgate and still keep that style. but it looks good so who cares if its works
Not sure Cal-look is right on the 2000/2500. Infact it looks bloody awful in IMO.
The Sprint estate is great, have seen the FWD estate before on the Web resourse.
Can you knock up a two door estate as your pretty good with the graphics!?

Is that Roger Keys' V8 2000?

The back window overhang on the sprint doesn't work when moved right back, nor does the thick pillar. I think the C pillar needs some angle as well. What would it look like with the original C pillar and a thin one at the rear? Get photoshopping!
have heard rumours that at one point a 1300 estate was in a scrappy. Stupid bloke crushed it though, don't think any more exist. Estates didn't really catch on till Volvo started to do it in the 70's so it probably wouldn't have sold well back then. Hatchbacks were still a novel idea back then too. Dad had a Austin A40 which was a kind of estate/hatch very unusual at the time.

Is it worth a go?

Often comtemplated the idea. Think you ar right about the small pillar. The thing is that 2000 / 2500 estates are a rare beast anyway, as well as being the obvious donor for the tailgate, etc. Perhaps a better idea than stretching a 1500?

I'll have another go...

This only came about cos I was trying to get a load of stuff in the boot of my Dolly and I got annoyed cos it wouldn't fit! I think the original pic was from a 1993 Classic Cars feature.

I'll try a thinner pillar a la 2000 but it still needs to be black I think. Not sure about 2-door, you'd have to use a Toledo door or it'd look too short like the Marina Coupe does.

You are really good at Photoshop!
It really looks like something that would have actually sold.

The rear opening could have been achieved by having the horizontal split half way down the black pannel. Just about the tail lights.
There are a couple of problems with it though. The long tail shell (1500 to sprint) tapers a lot at the back, meaning that the boot opening would be pretty pokey. I reckon the 1300 pictured above would have had straighter flanks to make for a good sized boot.
