Re: What ever happened to the Special One?

I don't think Jon ever changed the logbook if I'm honest!

It almost certainly does exist, but most classics are weekend or occasional cars so I am sure it'll surface again at some point.

Re: What ever happened to the Special One?

That was ERO456K

It was given a through going over by James467 after Jon passed, and I am pretty sure it reappeared on eBay (or it may have been the same Facebook add) a couple of years after that.

Re: Market Value

but I noted that there was a AM DB9 (lot 125 )that sold for 14.500 UKp, which I would buy in heart beat if I could, as these cars are advertising from $85,000 (44,000 UKp) and up in the Australian market.

I know someone who had a good look at that, and it had a pond in the boot! So not the best ...

Re: 13"

They're a modern tyre carcass with a classic design, I can confirm after a wet weekend in the Welsh countryside they perform superbly :)

The issue with the Uniroyals posted is that they are only a “T” speed rating, whereas a Sprint requires a “H”.

Re: 13"

I fitted a setof Yokohama Advan HF Type-D A008S tyres to my Sprint last year, it is a period tyre from the late 70s early 80s with the correct speed rating for a Sprint and just shy of 100 a corner. Very pleased with them :D

Re: Windscreen washer pumps

I found that the new Lucas WSB100 pumps do wear out very quickly. I fitted a chinese copy and it has been working fine for almost two years... but I think it is luck of the draw.

Re: Batteries and Springs....

I fitted a Varta B34 Blue to my Sprint, it's ever so slightly longer and not as wide as an 015 but it fits the standard battery brackets perfectly and without modification. 45 Amp-hour and maintenance free!

Re: Sprint snapped wheel stud - changing halfshafts

Thank you, I was unsure if the shims stay with the axle or stay with the half shaft, or had to be set up again from scratch.

Unfortunately the wheel studs on a Sprint have a metal shield over the back so you can’t just tap out the old studs, you have to pull the hub off which requires a 20T press…

Sprint snapped wheel stud - changing halfshafts

Hello :D

I have just snapped a rear wheel stud on my 1978 Sprint. Although the car is a late model with the thicker studs on the front, the rear axle is much earlier (around 3000) and therefore has the thinner studs. I still have the original rear axle, which was swapped as it was very noisy and a ...

Re: Engine numbers

My Spitfire with a 1300 engine had a very similar plate with RTC2458R followed by a 6-digit number and below that a stamped 3-letter 3-number code. I believe this was a factory (or factory-authorised) reconditioned engine.
