Re: Removable steering wheel

Yep. I fitted one on Lolo and hated it so much I never even drove it. The boss to change the wheel over moves it an inch closer to your chest, then the quick release adds another 2 inches. You almost end up steering from the back seat. Especially with a dished steering wheel.
You can get extra thin ...

Windscreen wiper motor

Morning all, giving the engine bay on Lolo a bit of a refresh at the moment.
When I removed the windscreen wiper motor to clean it up, the grommet between the motor and mounting plate completely disintegrated, does anyone have a source for these?
Or better off punching a hole in a suitably sized ...

RobSport do a recon exchange service for £240, plus a £50 surcharge.
Couldn't see the AC Delco D302 mentioned on the distributor doctors website.

Re: 1850 Clutch Change

Thanks Steve,
I`m pretty thorough bagging and tagging when I take cars apart so I would be surprised if I`d
lost a part. Good to double check.
Still looks like a big old gap for road gravel & suchlike to get into....

It makes a properly horrible noise and mess when you drop a washer and it ...

Re: Fitting an AFR Gauge

I've had an analogue AEM wideband fitted for about 10 years.
I honestly wouldn't bother. It's dependant on so many more things like RPM, Load, throttle position etc. it makes it still guesswork.
The analogue one does make it difficult to read, but the digital ones you get look so gaudy and hideous ...

This post is well over 2 months old. You're a little late to the party.

The way you communicate does your credibility no favours at all. You harp on about derogatory effects on the handling of the car. Is this from personal experience of a Dolomite on modern tyres? ............

Going to this with my old man, be the first time we've both had cars at a show together.
Unless I break it before hand at Shedfest.

Re: 1850 fueling

New theory.
Took it for a spin after fitting new fuel hoses, the second lot after the first batch of 6mm braided hoses disintegrated immediately, annoyed.
Watching the vacuum advance while driving, on the overrun, there is absolutely no vacuum advance at all, I had some while cruising steadily, a ...

Re: 1850 fueling

I'm 50/50 about it being fuel flow related. I think if it was the pump not keeping up, then pulling the choke wouldn't resolve it, as there'd not be anymore fuel in the float bowl to supply it.
But then there's the possibility where it sat for such a long time, the fuel pump got gummed up and hasn't ...

1850 fueling

Afternoon all.
Chasing an irritation with the fueling on Lolo.
Standard 1850 engine internally, stock fuel pump, stupid 2" sidepipe exhaust, stock carbs with 38mm long trumpets, ram air foam filter socks, AAU needles, not very old red non waxstat jets, 30w oil in the dashpots, red springs in the ...

Re: Just a quick hello

Welcome back mate!

2 Questions, what's the name of that colour (and which maker)?

And where can I get a C/F bonnet like that one?

Cheers, Steve

Evening Steve, colour is BMW P28 Twilight Purple.
The bonnet, I picked up from Sprintspeed.
But, Rob isn't keen on doing another one. I believe the ...

Just a quick hello

Thought I'd pop my head in and say hello, it's been a while.
Still got the stupid purple car. It's still stupid and still fighting me at every corner.
Between parts not fitting, things that I did when I had a shoe string budget and things people that should know better were paid for, it's been very ...

It's the left to right twist that tears it, not the up and down movement.
