Re: Dolomite Sprint for sale

The chassis number is VA10700DL on a P reg which makes it one of the last of the series 1 cars even though it is close to the "changeover period which introduced the series 2 cars"....

My P Reg 1975 sprint is VA10585 and a series 1, so is only 115 cars younger - it did not have OD, had a series ...

Re: Dolomite Sprint for sale

Looks quite nice to start with but a few oddities abound - a 1975 car?

It has the early type badge on the front and the seamed vinyl roof which would be correct, but a series 2 dashboard (round hazard light switch etc.), OD, coin tray and headrested seats and a tandem brake cylinder which I ...

Club triumph RBRR 2025

I appreciate that the Club Triumph RBRR is both well known and well attended by members of this board but this year will see me and a crack team of idiots giving it a go!

I don't think VA138 will be ready in time so I have bought a 1983 Triumph Acclaim to tackle the event in instead.

The charity ...

Re: Wanted, Choke Cable

I have one fitted but I don't have carbs just so I can keep the dash stock looking. I'll swap yours for mine if you like (solid cable)

Tony

Hi Tony, that is very kind thank you! I did try and look at other makes of car but came up blank.

I did however, find that I could buy just a new cable ...

Re: New Project VA485 - RPJ 7L

Hi Tony, looking great mate!

Am I to assume you made the cill carpets yourself? If so I think I'll need to do the same - where did you get the carpet from please?

Additionally, I was very smug in picking up a really nice parcel shelf years ago, but I've realised now that it must be a late one as ...

Re: Wanted, Choke Cable

Hi Alun, Rich, yeah I'll go and measure it soon.

It is the solid type definitely.

I'm just wondering if an 1850 one will do it? I won't know until I measure it I guess.

Tony Burd wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 4:03 pm Hi Shaun,

If you look carefully at the switch the terminals are numbered.

If you have the repair manual the numbers are shown on the wiring schematic.

Tony
Sorted Tony thank you - I would never have spotted that if you hadn't said!

All assembled now ta.

Wanted, Choke Cable

I'm after a choke cable for VA138 - it looks like some Jerk, not me on this occasion, has chopped the cable off at the point it is secured to the choke on the carbs so it is about 2" too short.

I'm after the cable, not the assy, so that would be the round knob with the wire attached, the tube it ...

Re: Early Hazzard switch wiring

Don't be surprised if it doesn't work when you get it wired up! You haven't done it wrong, they just get gummy inside when unused for a while!

A good shot of Electrolube and some working should bring it back. A dicky hazard switch can stop the normal indicators working too. Ask me how I know ...

Early Hazard switch wiring

Hi Chaps, would anyone be able to post an image of what wires go onto which terminals on an early, rectangular hazard light switch please?

It's one of the few things I didn't photograph on VA138 when taking it apart!

Thanks!

Re: Recommended tyre for Dolomite 1850 for a reasonable price.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced tyre for the Dolomite 1850. I’ve read other previous threads recommending the Pirelli but I simply can’t justify ( or afford) their price. The car will never see winter weather or rain (unless caught out) in the great British summer. What are others rolling ...

Re: My Sprint breakdown - update

Shaun Roche - re my sump removal, even with the engine raised off the mounts, the reason for the difficulty is the bolt (which is a long bolt and nut with two thick washers as well) on the nearside rear corner of the sump directly under the starter motor is placed such that I can't get any of my ...
