Re: 1972 Toledo
Not Much to report on the Toledo, i've only managed about 800miles since the respray! Recently passed the mot and the testers advise was, Mat you need to use this more! So that weekend I gave it a good run around Essex Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. After about 100miles things started to go slightly ...

Re: 1972 Toledo
I cant remember the anti roll bar being particularly difficult to fit. They are usually pretty suborn things on most cars so a large bar/pole usually helps putting them in their place!

Re: 1972 Toledo
The rear anti roll bar came from RimmerBros when they had one of their sales on I think it was about £12! Which made a small but noticeable difference. But its was the front one that really made a difference. The front one was very kindly donated by Tony (MIG Wielder) on this forum.

Re: 1972 Toledo
grifterkid: The bush certainly made a much bigger difference that I was expecting, with the steering wheel not moving around so much the steering is much more positive! Like Toledoman says they are a bit of a fiddle to fit, I loosened the column from the bracket under the dash which helped.

Re: 1972 Toledo
nearly 400miles since the respray! The car is going well, some small niggles one of which was I was getting and alarming up and down movement from the steering column. Quick search on this forum revealed the lower bush was a common problem, had a look and sure enough the original bush was ...

Re: Most difficult car to repair
Rolls Royce or Bentley all ages! Over complex, poor designs and cryptic workshop manuals. Ok to drive though!
Also possibly one of the manufactures to use metric/BA/imperial and whitworth (along with various types of screws/allen keys etc) all on the same vehicle?!
Still they keep me in work!

Re: 1972 Toledo
Glad its an inspiration!
Took it for a spin yesterday, first time since returning from the paint shop (with out windows!) I'd forgotten how go-cart like it is compared with my Saab. Could do with a bit more power though! Lots of smiles from other road users too

Re: 1972 Toledo
The strips are a bit fiddly to fit, I used the clips Chris Witor sells which are of a better design than the originals.
I found the best way was to remove the door card, then remove the window stop at the bottom of the door. With this gone you can then wind the window down a bit further than normal ...

Re: 1972 Toledo
Yup no gutter trims here! I dont think i'd fit them even if it did have them seems like another area for moisture to collect and rust the car!

Nothing much to report on the Toledo, interior is all back in few bits of wiring tidied ...
