Re: Fitting the water pump bung

My sprint has bypass blanked off with core plugs. This is a common procedure in Perth Australia. Car running standard pump and cooling at present. The mod is 3 years in and I don’t think I’ve experienced any detrimental issues by doing so. Disclaimer, I did blow a head gasket, but I put that down to ...

Re: Bulkhead steering bush alternatives?

Superpro vs superflex. On this occasion I am going to respectfully disagree with comment that superpro will need replacing again next year! I did a lot of research on this forum and online at large and fitted superpro throughout my car. Admittedly I’ve only done a few thousand miles. I was under ...

Re: The story so far.

Hi Jeroen, I wanted to call out and thank you for your help on this forum. I’ve learnt so much about my car from referencing threads over the years. There a few contributors on this forum that really do know their stuff and share knowledge freely to help others. Please don’t pull back and not offer ...

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW MY SPRINT..TGT 854W OR POSS DICK STEPHENS ?

Maybe not the same car. I remember a stunning sprint in that colour in Ashford. This was around early to mid 90’s. I seem to remember chap owning it from new and he would have been mid/late 40’s at time. I may have an old photo somewhere to double check rego. This car was used regularly and in ...

Great to see adapter for 123 on discussion and possible solution. I would love one as I reached out to Mahesh a while back to see if any were available. Let’s hope my standard dizzy and points hold out while this plays out. Cheers Gerard

Re: Latest Dolly Mixture

Is there soft copy of dolly mixture option available. I do enjoy mine when arrives but prefer access electronically these days. Soft copy would reduce postage and printing to places like Australia. Just a thought and not wanting to upset anyone who loves paper and won’t want change

Great to see there are good people doing the right thing. Exeter Auto centre replaced lambda sensor and job done, all up 160 quid. A far cry from 1700!

Re: Head gasket fail, water pump leak

Steve,

Mine had the first 2 retorque as below and was in for a tune, service and retorque at the 1100 mile mark! Just one of those things and not sure I could have much else to avoid. When it’s all back together, let’s just say..... plenty of retorque on my to do list.

Cheers

If I was closer I'd be able to connect my laptop which has Diagbox installed. This is the software that dealers and specialists use. If you're savvy enough, you can buy it on Amazon or eBay and have a go yourself. It might be possible to recalibrate the tyre pressure sensors. I managed to do this ...

Thanks Bish. Thankfully my wife OK with yet another outlay and we are both still working and not greatly impacted by COVID

As for Perth temps, car won’t go out if it’s hot and same goes for rain. It lives a cosseted life, it’s second home being with a mechanic

Re: Head gasket fail, water pump leak

Turns out my head needs a light skim and rebuild. At least head has some decent depth and can afford a tidy up.
While off road I can replace front suspension bushes!
