Having had a rattly fan pulley on my sprint, and being unable to source a new replacement, i managed to find the following bearing. I've only done a couple of hundred miles since, but it seems to be doing the job.
It came from Henderson Bearings, and is part FPS61.
I daresay it's just Chinese tat ...

Re: Brake Servo Sprint
I've been meaning to post something to this ilk recently, so might as well put it here!
Having dismantled a couple of broken ones recently, I'm not so sure it's a dry system that breaks the piston. I wonder if rust accumulates in the bottom of the case, and if left to sit for a period of time ...

And is your timing checked with the vacuum disconnected?

Re: low in power, lean mixture? 1850HL
Sounds like you should start from first principles again, put the carbs back to their base setting etc etc.
Was the engine properly HOT, when you tuned it?
Can I assume you balanced the carbs with the linkages disconnected? And are they correctly set again?

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
I have a sprint head, and the bearing surfaces for the camshaft are not in the best shape. Before i spoke to a machine shop, i thought I'd ask here. Does anybody know how this can be repaired? Honed and a custom cam with bigger journals? Or is it possible to machine the head to take bearing shells ...

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
Does anybody happen to know the thread size, and length of, the 4 bolts that should hold the indicator and wiper stalks to the steering column?

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of rad companies, I'm guessing they must be shut over the holidays!
Do you happen to know the diameters of the two?
Xvivalve, do you have rough prices in mind?
Im think it'll just be silted up, valve seems to work fine. Everytime i flush and descale it ...

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
A couple of questions I'm hoping folks here might have an answer to.
Are the sprint and stag steering wheels identical? The car currently has a motalita fitted, and I'd prefer an original sprint one.
Secondly, Is it possible to get a standard heater matrix? Mines currently useless, and would like ...

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
I have hopefully attached a picture of the bracket, bearing and pulley apart. Also in the picture is the bearing I ordered for the tr7. It is a genuine leyland part, and has the same diameters, but as you can see, the bearing section is too long, and shaft too short.
I was hoping somebody may know ...

Thanks xvivalve, I'll check my inbox.
I'm also still interested in trying to source a new bearing, if anybody can shed more light on that?
And back to my cars history, does anybody know of any records from old triumph dealers in the chester, flintshire area? Im assuming as the reg number is wdm ...

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
The viscous unit bearing is actually good, although I have a new one to fit as a matter of course, its the bearing between the housing that mounts to the timing cover, and the pulley itself that is worn and causing my trouble.

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
I must admit, im not totally sold on the colour, but I'll only worry about that once its mechanically sorted!
Thanks for the info, I dont suppose you'd have any contact details for Tony Lovern? Or be able to pass my details onto him?

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N
Hello, and thanks for the welcome.
Having read through some of the excellent restoration posts on here, I dont think ill have much exciting to add!!
The end goal is to try and get it reliable enough to take to all the BTCC events next year, which from the North of Scotland might take a bit of doing ...
