Re: Rear crankshaft seal
Don't get mad mart. That's what I wanted to know does the seal fit the shaft. I will buy one from simply bearings and when fitted, let members know how it performs. Thanks for your time. Adder

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
Yes I agree, and the size given for the crankshaft was 76mm so is that not the size needed. Don't understand why 76.2mm was quoted. Is there anybody who has used a double lip seal, and do they know the size etc. It would be useful for members to have this information for future reference as you don ...

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
This is all very confusing, has anyone actually measured the 143148 seal . If the crank size is definitely 76mm , why are people using 76.2mm . I also saw a seal advertised at E.J.Ward engineers with the part number 143148 with the seal sizes 9.52 x 95.25 x 76.2 ( .375 x 3.750 x 3 ). Has anyone else ...

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
I was told the sprint seal is the same as the stag, and to fit the double lip seal from simply bearings. The size of seal from Mad Mart doesn't seem to match up to the size of the double lip one. Can anyone explain, or is i/d size flexible, I would have thought not.

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
The knowledgeable people I asked about the seal only gave me the part number in the sprint catalogue. No one gave me one for double lip seal or a supplier.!!!!!!!!!

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
I wanted a payen seal but can't find one, so I was recommended to use a double lip seal, that is why I need the size of the seal. I have an idea what the size is but want to make sure before I send for it.

Anyway the nuts came yesterday and when I tried them on the studs they only went on one end. I got on the phone to Rimmers and they went off to check the stock. They were the same so need ...

Re: Carb jets
After a run the plugs are fine, they only soot up when the car is idling, would running hotter plugs sort this. I did suspect valve stem seals.

Re: Carb jets
That was my thinking, I'm only trying to correct someone else's bodge . If I get both then at least it's a good starting point when I try to set them up. It's always good to have a couple of views. This all came to light after I took the car to be tuned. Thanks for the help regards adder.
