Re: In car footage with Gerry Marshall 1978/9

I love this footage . I’ve watched it so many times , I think I must account for half of the views over the years . I too watch the legend that is Gerry Marshall trying to control that thing.! He didn’t always manage it unfortunately as I remember seeing a few images on here of a destroyed Sprint ...

Re: Accelerator Pedal Rubbers

I was going to say that Baines have started manufacture of these. They have also started manufacture of rubber exhaust hangers as well for Dolomites.
They appear to make quality parts , is there chance of them producing other rubber based parts for our cars ? They produce stuff for the big Triumphs ...

Re: Rear axle leak

Mark,

I have 'uprated' half shafts that I have fitted in my Sprint axle and I am guessing that it is an ST copy. Axle remaines on the shelf in the garage for a decade but all went in ok as I remember, but remains untested. I would also hazard a guess that Triumph used to raid the parts bin to find ...

Re: Continuing water pump woes

Rob,

Speaking from experience, when the impellor is machined just take off the absolute minimum from the seal face to clean it up fully as the more material is removed the less spring pressure is applied to the mechanical seal.
The whole water pump arrangement is way over complex though eh? I know ...

Re: Headlamp relais conversion set type fit.

Cheapskate Jon yes...but this is a great idea. I think this would be an ideal use of club funds and I too think that they will move off the shelf without much trouble.
I however got in early and have just received mine, so thanks Jeroen.

I had every confidence in Jeroens ability to come up with the ...

Re: New Zealand Dolomite Sprint Project HJ 1700

Hi Robert,

Had been following you're resto HU5000 through the ups and downs and really enjoyed the thread. I am encouraged that Dolomites are still on them fine NZ roads! Having been to NZ many times I have only met one Sprint owner at a filling station in Napier on the Taupo road. I tried to keep ...

I remember a thread but I don't think it was on here and it was to do with the original crankshaft blueprints. My have been on pistonheads. Do I remember the original poster saying they had others?

Re: Swapping out overdrive 4 speed for a 5 speed box

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but a quick question.

If I was to swap a late 1850 with slushbox to an 1850 with Sprint o/d box apart from axle and maybe prop and stuff like clutch pedal master/ slave o/d wiring harness...what else would I have to get?
Just that i have a Sprint o/d box kicking ...

Re: Timing Chain Tensioners: A comparison

Just my ramblings.. and observations as...
1) I cannot remember the route of the lubrication system from memory
2) I don't have the item in front of me

But...yes the Jag tensioner has a larger oil feed to the slipper pad but assuming that the bore remains the same then would that not mean that the ...
