Re: Avo rear damper bushes
Superflex.co.uk and chriswitor.co.uk don't answer emails at the moment. Found out that AVO was conscripted by Turbo Technics LTD. Contacted them and they're able to send a new set of bushes, made from new type of rubber: hopefully more durable than the red PU.

Re: Avo rear damper bushes
I think I get it, and you're right: in my setup the top bush carries the weight. For the rear it will be an easy fix, the ID of the original spring and the current sprong are the same, so using the original seat was always an option here. Shame I didn't realize this earlier.

Re: Avo rear damper bushes
My AVOs were set up like yours and lots of people advised me to modify the standard top mounts so that the spring sits in the top mount like the standard spring rather than in the AVO top mount…
In my memory the spring diameter of the AVO's is smaller than the standard size. Hence I went for ...

Which is the right way? I removed the old mounts without taking notice of the offset...Richard the old one wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 5:35 pm Have you put the engine mounts in the correct way up ? see the attached photo

I went the same route, the angle in the cylinder head made skimming a challenge. When skimmed the holes for cylinder head studs need altering by memory.

Re: 1850 tuning
Flywheel was lightened, recesses were made just next to the mounting points where the clutch pressure plate bolts on. Then crankshaft including flywheel and clutch (LUK) were balanced: cost me about €600 back in 2015.

Re: 1850 tuning
I'm a fool investing as much in the engine as I did, without knowing the outcome other then "runs fine". No known power figures after the rebuilding of the engine. Maybe I should look for a dyno nearby to confirm the improvement.

Back in 2014 I sent a standard camshaft to Kent cams. They reprofiled to "DM1" spec, which is 284°.

Re: 185 /60s
I'm using yokohama a539, in the dimensions you mention. Pleased with them, but no comparison with other types of tyres. Grippy enough in dry weather for my 1850, predictable when they start to let go: they'll announce with a slight scream.
