Re: Fuel gauge stopped working

So I removed the sender and found the float about half full of something, presumably petrol.

No obvious leaks and the float still floated when I put it in a bowl of water. Replaced it all and gauge now reads 1/4 (tank is pretty much full)

I guess the float should be completely empty so a spare ...

Fuel gauge stopped working

I suspect that the fuel sender float has sunk as my petrol gauge now reads empty although the tank is full. The low fuel light is now on all the time. No other malfunctions with any instrument.

The problem seems to have occurred over a 6 week period when the car was tucked away in the garage ...

Re: Minor accident - new wing required

I don't think i need a pristine condition one.
I have seen front bumpers on ebay. Up to £100 for used and nearly £400 for pristine (re-chromed).
This would indicate the cost of re-chroming is perhaps £250 - £300...it is not a cheap exercise.

Re: Minor accident - new wing required

By way of an update, I have finally managed to visit a recommended panel beater (Stevie) who has looked at the car and is happy to repair the wing as it is basically in good condition.
He has queried the bumper however which got bent out of shape. The kink is not sufficient to have caused the chrome ...

Re: Minor accident - new wing required

N/S front wing. I have a photo of the damage but can't remember how to post it however the damaged wing appears to comprise less metal than it left the factory with!! and is I think beyond economical repair.

Happy to collect / pay for decent w/h wing.

Thank you for the help so far.

Re: Minor accident - new wing required

No, not considering putting it through insurance. No immediate hurry to sort it out....but if i don't get on with it it will just get left :!:

Minor accident - new wing required

Unfortunately I managed to clip a metal post that leapt out in front of me this morning. It is clear that I am going to need a new wing, front bumper and various accessories

Who would you recommend that I try to source these replacement parts? I see Rimmers do wings (which appear to be laminate ...

Re: Indicator not working

By way of an update, I ran the jumper wire from a scotchlok connection under the dashboard back to the rear light. It all now seems to work albeit I accept that this is addressing the symptom without tackling the real cause.

Out of interest I recall exactly the same problem - O/S/R light not ...

Re: Indicator not working

Thank you for the help so far....I made a temporary connection between the working and non-working rear indicators, switched on the hazards and the non-working light started flashing.
the bulb, holder and earth would therefore seem OK so presumably a power feed problem.

Graham's temporary (likely ...

Indicator not working

For no apparent reason, the rear off side indicator has stopped working both in indicator and hazard functions. It's not the bulb as this illuminates in one of the 3 working units.
I thought flasher unit problem but surely both wouldn't fail at the same time?
Any obvious thoughts (bear in mind my ...

Sprint Ignition issue - electronic ignition?

My sprint starts well when hot or cold.....until yesterday.

I took the car for its last MOT. MOT test completed, the examiner drove it out of the bay switched it off...and it wouldn't then restart.

There appeared to be no spark at the plugs. It would crank but not fire at all.

In the dark we ...

Re: Drivers door wont open from outside

Slightly to my surprise I managed to change the door handle yesterday evening in just over an hour....and it seems to work!

Removing the door handle with the actuating rod attached was good advice as was moving the window channel out of the way.

Door handle came from Rimmers but with no gaskets ...

Re: Drivers door wont open from outside

Door card removed and the problem reveals itself.

The casting fitted to the back of the door handle has cracked and deflects when the handle button is pressed to the extent that it has reduced movement of the linkage to the point at which it won't allpw the door to unlock.

New door handle ordered ...

Drivers door wont open from outside

I can no longer open the drivers door from the outside. It can be opened from inside in the normal way.

The push button on the door handle moves in and out but without any significant resistance.

The lock button appears to be operational.

I assume that a connecting rod or linkage has either ...
