Re: Club triumph RBRR 2025
I have a windscreen (toughened) and cylinder head here that belong to Ian McDonald who lives in Wick and for logistic problems haven't been transported to him. In past years I know that he has met the RBRR participants at JO'G so is there anyone taking part this year who could transport these items ...

You also have red paint on the diff cover....worth checking for an 'S' suffix on the diff number as the next step...

Re: Dizzy Stuck In 1850 Engine
Hello David,
The only thing holding the distributor in to the block is the friction created by a thick rubber 'O' ring which is only some 5 mm or so below the mounting flange, see photograph

below that, the casting has a machined flat side which ...

Re: Dolomite Sprint OAD
The original plug tubes in which the plugs sit are friction fit and always had a poor seal at the bottom allowing oil to seep into them; they are simple aluminium tubes with bonded plastic seals to top and bottom. I find that it's plugs that have been sitting in an oil bath are ones that seem to be ...

Re: Diff Ratio Puzzle
My usual method is diff/axle out of car to either turn the 2 outputs together and count how many turns of front flange. Or lock one output in place, but then 2 complete turns of the other output. (obviously not a good idea with an LSD)
1.9 ratio certainly seems extremely unlikely!
Those were ...

With that amount of oxidisation, I'd say all the aluminium elements are scrap. With the carbs/manifold lose the engine is likely seized due to moisture ingress on at least two cylinders, so irrespective of number I'd say it's a crank and a water pump...if you're lucky.

Diff Ratio Puzzle
A couple of months ago I bought a body shell which came with some of the mechanical parts to three 1850s. Of the three gearboxes, one is automatic, so assuming one of the axles also came from an automatic car I set about today to try to identify which one. The first one took just over three and a ...

It has also clearly had paint; look at the thickness on the front suspension turrets! Also, the fact the underside is fully painted rather than the usual simple benefit of overspray, so it could have started life as something completely different...and in my opinion, probably did.

Re: Dolomite Sprint for sale
A similar car ended at £14k at auction within the last fortnight...but didn't reach its reserve.
A car with only 11k miles from new in a presentable condition, but not without its faults, finished at auction a few months back at £18k
In the current market I'd say it'd maybe sell at £12k?

I've no experience of that and suggest that a specialist column with product design liability would be required, but would fitting a smaller diameter wheel be an easier option?
