If that doesn't work (it should really) try jacking only 1 rear wheel, the differential effect will let you turn the engine (in 4th gear) just by rocking the wheel that is in the air.

Re: Market Value

These auctions also show the difference in value of vehicles in different markets. In the Australian market you would be very lucky to see these numbers for any Dolomite Sprint, but I noted that there was a AM DB9 (lot 125 )that sold for 14.500 UKp, which I would buy in heart beat if I could, as ...

Re: MOT

My opinion sides with Matt here as there are two statements which are true with a standard Sprint:

1. The front is under braked
2. The rear is over braked.

Solving '1' with bigger/vented brakes does not automatically alter the second statement, but that is the errant assumption often made. The ...

Trevor Price

Trevor's daughter has just let me know by text that he passed away shortly after 6 pm this evening, I think he was 94. He only stopped driving earlier this year and sold his Sprint in the summer as part of 'putting his affairs in order'.

Obviously no arrangements have yet been made, but I'll report ...

I have a known good 1500 engine, originally built by Jod Clark, but I'm a good distance from Aberdeen, down here in the Midlands!

Re: Metric M12x1.5 Stud Conversion Inc. nuts for sprint alloys.

One of Ted's anecdotes from conversations held 'back in the day' with Canley employees concerns the Sprint being the first production car fitted with alloy wheels. Seemingly, one of the reasons alloy nuts were used was to ensure that the nut was 'softer' than the wheel as early development testing ...

Re: My Sprint breakdown - update

What size bearings do you need? I have various good quality tri-metal on the shelf…

What are the crank journals like? If the bearing is worn I’d the crank also in need of work?

Tri-metal bearings when new are silver/grey in colour, no copper visible. If copper visible I’d not re-use them myself.

Re: Dolomite Sprint Works Cars SOE 8M, RDU 983M, MYX 175P

I had opportunity to consider FRW812L when the widow of the former owner was considering a possible sale. At the time, at a suggested minimum £15k it would have been an expensive Dolomite, despite its provenance. A third party (no longer associated with the Club and something of a knob in my opinion ...
