Thanks Steve, I have the application c brackets shown here: http://cdn.triumphowners.com/wp-content ... pshaft.pdf
I have 2 different centre bearings on different props, 1 equal at 3-9 the other with offset mountings as per c (unfortunately not usable)
If i've read the drawing right, then the brackets you have are correct for your car, "Dolomite", ie pre facelift 1850, with auto trans which is probably why i've never seen one before! It's obviously not a general auto thing, as the 1500 auto I broke recently was built up as per app A with 156985 brackets. The purpose seems to be to displace the bearing to the right of the centre line, God knows why, it's probably to do with avoiding harmonics! And nothing to do with the offset.
I rather fancy you will struggle to find a NOS OFFSET bearing these days, but I have successfully fitted 3-9 bearings in offset Sprint applications, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to get away with it too. Ditch the spacers from the O/S bracket (app C WH0809) and assemble as per app B using the app C brackets and 3-9 bearing and see how you get on! But first, get the prop balance checked by a competent specialist! No amount of faffing about with fittings like this will help if the prop is out of balance!
