This is going to be totally awesome, and possibly the lightest/strongest Dolly ever built! On that note, why don't you make the whole shell out of carbon fibre? No, don't tell me, you would have done but you don't have enough room for the molds! BTW, have you decided on the final colour yet? Jer

So how much would a production run of carbon fibre doors cost....?

I wouldn't like to put a price on them as I have spent a lot of time on them as I want them to align perfectly. If I were to make some for sale and if I only rough trimmed them to shape any, glued the 2 halves together and the end user drilled the hinge holes, door locks, handles, etc that would knock a lot of hours off but if you want the doors to be an a1 fit that's the price to pay. I used alg1k's doors to make the molds as there perfectly flat so on painting no filler req. I need to sit and work out how much carbon, Kevlar, resin, vac bag, peel ply, infusion, mesh, gum, tape, glue I use in each door. At the moment I haven't bothered with that as I really need to get mine finished, I am going to be making a spares package so I can do a a few more but that won't be until mine's painted so later in the year. I don't mind making them at all it's just a time thing at the moment. I wish I could take 6 months leave with pay lol.

If you sell enough panels you can leave half a year with a pay.

That is exactly the principle applied with the GRP front panel; we made the mould as perfect as possible, but the panels are supplied rough trimmed with all apertures left for the customer to cut out...else they'd be twice the price!

If DF doesn't have the time or inclination to make further panels for members, perhaps he could consider selling/donating the molds to the club once he's finished with them? That would save him storing/disposing of the molds and would enable the club to make use of the molds, which I'm sure are top quality, to supply panels to members, either in GRP or carbon fibre. Just a thought.

Jer

Hi Pete
Long time since ive looked at this thread
I now have nearly finished all the fabrication
Exhaust is made all suspension is done apart from a few little bits
Im waiting on the cyl block to come back from machining the pistons were holding it up
Ive gone for high comp with an 11 mm height rise in the piston pin
Also dry sump isn't finalised as 2 diff ones are being tested to see which gives the desired results
I have a facebook page (Darren Faulkner ) as its so easy to upload pictures too ,
I will update this with pickys when I can get around to doing them on photobucket
