Best to keep old looms or replace??
I guess the answer is hold on to your existing loom time being and see if you can find a better replacement.

However I find the Lucas wiring system on our cars straightforward to work on, so I'd likely end up repairing the existing loom if I was in your position.

Ive got several really old dolomites and never found the need to replace a loom. The worst bits are fuse box connectors and the loom bullet connectors for the lights at the front. If these are really bad there is enough slack wire to cut them off and fit new ones. Retape any old outer bits that look fragile and you are away.
Nice to keep the original loom colours and lots of it is inside the car out of the way of the elements. Bulkhead grommets can be in a state too.

Welcome back.
Glad you haven't given up (as often happens) on your car.

Update to this thread..

After removing the outer sill which was double skinned in parts, the bottom of the inner sill had been patched all the way along but was also rotten. Bit tricky trying to grind old welds to get the patched inner off, as you couldnt get grinder into step where welds where.

Both jacking points were shot, have repaired rear, front fabricated new. You can see old repair on end of sill, was mostly filler and newspaper (couldn't find date!)

The front inner wheel arch at front of sill was shot which had to be cut out and patched. Only had red oxide to paint over after!

I don't want to p155 in your pocket and tell you its raining Jeff, but shouldn't the peening on the circular cut outs face inward?

Well spotted Alun! Do you think this will affect the structure of the sill?
Not welded that yet, but seems to fit very nicely! Was thinking this way you can weld new inner to enforcer bit easier?

It won't affect the strength of the reinforcer at all, but your flange will also now face outward. Can't think of any detriment that would immediately cause and if the outer trial fits over OK then I wouldn't worry unduly...but you'll void the warranty on the panel ;-)

:D I'll check the fit of the outer.

Does anyone have templates to fabricate the front end of outer sill?

Would make life bit easier!
