Ah! it doesn't, it pivots in the offside one. I didn't see anything to suggest that it was the n/s one you're doing, still can't, for that matter. Conclusion; I'm missing something, so no surprise there then....

N/S is the easy one, well easier, since not only does it not have the relay shaft to worry about, nor does it contain the master cylinder, that being the usual cause of premature rot in the o/s one.

Cheers for clarifying that for me John. Thank goodness I don't have that to contend with. Phew!

Yes, about 500 from the end, I think, complete with steering lock.

Spent Tuesday doing a massive grindathon, I love using the grinder. Am getting rather good at precision grinding

The truly horrible rusty n/s chassis rail is history! Just a small amount of dressing with the 'lecky file should have it all ready for the replacement to be cut to size and welded in place. Yay! Photos on saturday once it's all done..... promise.

Hot grinder spark down your lughole is a bit uncomfortable isn't it.

try a lump of weld, you can hear it fizzing in your earwax.

Was that Capri orientated weld?

Spent more tien the Moggie this morning. Just had a couple of spots to grind away. Still need to spend about another 1/2 hour on it. I will then cut the new chassis rail roughly to size then trim accordingly.

I do admire anyone who can cut out a pile of rotten metal and then proceed to completely rebuild the open air section, great stuff Ken.

I actually really enjoy fabricating stuff, however, on this occasion I can't take the credit, there are some really nice repair sections around. Rita was persuaded to buy me one for Christmas and that will be going on soon. Progress for sure.
