Sorry, I felt the urge to sneak this post under the wire before the padlock fell on this thread.

Just thinking though; isn't it a shame that the car had to leave the place of its rebirth on the back of a truck?
The neighbours will be thinking that the poor car doesn't run under its own power.

only cos it's quicker and less expensive than taxing and insuring her at the moment so no worries. Currently got my work, time space and spare cash getting my Audi running, then they'll be swapping places for few months

As collected from Central London where it has lived for last few years. Very faded paintwork.

Back in my yard and then driven 20 odd miles home showed up a misfire when warm, tyres are dated 2008/2009 so being replaced this weekend, exhaust rubber missing and it won’t drop out of overdrive when it’s warm. Once turned off and left to cool, O/D works again and runs on all 4 until after about 8-10 miles. Some investigation needed. Drivers seat had collapsed so already had one of my spares in.
Heater stuck on hot as well so likely seized mechanism.

As I planned to run it to a gathering about 30 miles from home, it was given a quick polish and transformed in an hour.

For now it is at home making up possibly my ideal 2 car garage but I’m unsure whether to keep it and spend some money on it or move it on to someone who prefers the colour as I really am not keen.

Nice buy Stewart! Magenta has always been a bit Marmite, i'm on your side, but some adore it!

The heater stuck will almost certainly be a seized tap, nearly every one i've had, that has been stored a while, has this feature! If you take the instrument panel out you can just about get to it to service it, the tap body is part of the rad and doesn't come off separately (but you probably know this!)

If you break it, I have a NOS heater rad here, comlete with tap.

Steve

Well done Stewart. The last time I saw THJ was at the last TDCIR. It looked very neglected with, as you said, faded paintwork. The wheels no longer gleamed and I was quite sad to see it in this condition, especially as the guy who bought it from me (I can't remember his name) really spent a lot of time making it look even better. I wasn't sure about the colour, at first, but then it grew on me and now I would say it was my second favourite colour, after Brooklands, of course.

Rimmers are still using one of the photos, taken on a professional photo shoot, on their website.

Mart,

I believe you sold it to another Martin only kept it a year or so then sold to the chap I bought it from.

I did about 80 miles last night and it was really struggling with the misfire by the time I got home.

I'll use my limited abilities over the weekend to have a look a what I can otherwise I'll be back on looking to get it to one of you more knowledgeable guys to go through it.
