Eventually got to spend an hour on the seats last night. Only got the fronts done but they came up quite well considering how long they've been sitting.

There had been some paint spilt on the back of the drivers seat before it was laid up so I attacked this first. May have tried to locate another seat if this didn't come off.

Went at it first very gently with a blade, picking off the worst of it. Then a cloth and white spirit to get the bulk of it off. There was still some afterwards that was ingrained in the vinyl and I was ready to give up. Went to wash my hands and then ......would it work? No harm in trying.

Took the swarfega (gritty type) and a nailbrush to the garage and gently rubbed in the Swarfega by hand then a light brushing and away it came. There are some light scratches on the vinyl but it looks a lot better than the paint splat.

Went over both seats with the wet vac. Haven't came up brilliantly but once they have dried I will have another go at them.

Next time you are polishing your black shoes, take the brush and shoe polish to the vinyl of the seat - you may find it restoes even more colour

Quite a productive day today.

All 4 ball joints replaced today with new items.

Wiring sorted and tidied up for radio.

Best pieces of the carpet sets I had have now gone back in.

Rear seat back in place. Fronts will go back in once front parcel shelf is re-fitted.

Hi Stewart, all looking good mate. The seats have come up well. It might still be worthwhile having a go with the products mentioned. You might be suprised.

All the best.

Ken

Justyn,

Top ball joints are knackered. Bottoms are ok but need new rubbers.

I'll keep them all and get your verdict on them at Stoneleigh.

V8 was in the car park. When I got there I had parked in the traders car park, but moved it later in the day.

sorry i thought you were mistaking stuwarts for that tollyy/dolly V8, the one with the riveted roof join and dodgy underside welding that was on another stand.

Eventually, after a few other Dolly distractions, focus is again on the SE.

Got the new (new to me) carbs fitted yesterday and the car is now running and the head appears to be ok this time. The carbs need setting up and this will be done tomorrow along with the carbs on the Brown 1500HL. Thanks Bruce.

Seats and carpets are back in. Could probably do with a new carpet set eventually as the side pieces against the sills are not very good. They will have to suffice for now. Only need to put lower parcel shelf in now and the interior will be complete.

Just need to pick up an exhaust back box and then should be ready for MOT. Fingers crossed as I have said that before.

After a few delays, work commenced again today.

Reverted back to the original carbs that came on the car as the second hand Spitfire ones that I had bought wouldn't set up. Will rebuild them at some point. Carbs that are on now still need a bit of fine tuning but should be ok for now.

Fitted a rear exhaust section which I borrowed from the Brown car, and generally checked over all the smaller items such as lights, wipers, washers, horn etc.....

Washers didn't work at first but after a minute of fiddling with the connection at the pump, it whirred up and sprayed foul smelling 14 year old water over the garage. Now drained and refilled with fresh water and screenwash.

Horn also didn't work, again traced to broken connection at the horn end. Two new spade connectors and all sorted. Beep Beep!!

All lights are good, although indicators are flashing slower than on the other cars, I still think that they are within MOT limits.

So.....MOT tomorrow lunch time. Will be the cars first road journey under its own steam for 14 years but I have confidence in it.
