I remember considering this Toledo when it came up for sale. It looked to be in great shape, but it is amazing to see all of the rust that was lurking! I am really pleased that I didn't buy it. That may sound rude, but what I mean is that I am really pleased that you bought it. I would never have been able to carry out all of the repairs that you have done and it would probably be sitting unused in a barn now if it was mine. Well done on all of the hard work. I can't wait to see it once it is painted.

Thank you all for the kind words! Im beginning to wonder myself if id known when I bought it how much work and time it would take that I might have thought twice, but either way im glad I took it on!

:D thanks everyone. (ill try my best to get something written for 2-4 Rob).. Its been a busy weeks so far. Slight problem with the paint though, A repair on the boot lid has sunk and you can see sandpaper marks on it and the paint shop had machine polished too far on the door and you could see primer coming through so these are to be re-done.

Most of the front end/engine bay is back together now as well as the door locking mechanisms and handles.

This is just fantastic.
You have our admiration and deserve every compliment.

A single article in DM will do you a disservice, it needs to be in at least three parts,
discovering all the rot
sorting the rot
the mechanical stuff and reassembly.

What a fantastic job!

It looks just like my 1972 4 door tolly but a lot cleaner! (in fact mine is a banger compared to yours!)

but seriously great job.

do you have a batter tray? not sure if they were fitted mine sit on the front inner wing/chassis member. if you do would appreciate a picture so I can fab one up.

Also a a point of interest, I have seat belt parks on the top belt mounting (see my restoration link - Red Peril) do you have the same?

Paul

I like the bubble wrap idea to protect the paint, think I will do the same.

Nice job.

So nice to see a Toledo being restored to this sort of standard. Well done indeed.
