Looking good Dan. What colour is that? Looks valencia from some angles and more green from others. Interior is very tidy. Hope you kept your sidelight/indicator units.

Nice one mate.

Cheers Ken! Conifer at a guess, definitely green, the blue sky makes her look Valencia in some pics. I'd rather be sure before I order any paint, so if anyone knows, let me know! :)

Can anyone help identify the colour?

I am hoping to get some paint in soon ready to tart the bodywork up a little bit.

Cheers!

Was Mallard found on 1300s?
Only reason I ask is that there are some greens that I can tell from blue, but Mallard isn't one of them so if that's green, but looks like a slightly darker shade of Valencia blue to me, then it could be Mallard. If it was out then.

Definitely not Mallard Green, I think that came in around '71 so not on any 1300s, though it would suit!

Its either Cactus or Conifer I reckon, I'm leaning more towards Conifer as Cactus is more khaki/mossy type shade.

i agree with him ^^^^^^

It may have faded a little, Valencia is mixed with more green than blue and in certain light they do look green!!

Dan, attack a panel with a damp cloth and some t cut. Then add a bit of polish to get a truer idea about the colour.

It definitely isn't Valencia, Levi is and this is not the same.

This is very distinctly green. I don't think my camera is showing it well enough. Will return tomorrow with T Cut and a better camera. Its had a bloody awful paint job at some point, but its an identical green to the original, (I have lifted the trim and checked the floors etc).

Also, is the red trim in the boot unusual? Im guessing black was standardised at some point as I have seen three other 1300s with Matador interiors and all had black bootlining.

Looking at those two pics I would say with 100% certainty that Levi is NOT valencia and not even a 1300 colour and the second pic is valencia and the third pic looks Catus. but as you say that could well be a combination of your camera/ lighting and the computer moniter. Is there not a chassis plate on the inner wing?

No plate, sadly.

Levi is definitely Valencia blue, the pic was taken on very bright daywith a top spec camera, Levi has had no resprays and has the correct plate inside with the legend 66.

Pics two and three are the same car, I can guarantee it isn't Valencia and hasn't been at any point in its history. I've googled cactus and conifer and am almost certain its conifer, cactus is actually quite light. Must be unusual as no one seems to recognise it!

Strange how colours can vary in different light, etc. In one pic I'd say valencia, in the last one deffo green. IIRC earlier cars had the trim coloured boot panels and later ones went to black, but I'm no expert.

Has Levi got to it's new home yet?

Not until mid September Ken.

I think the blazing sun and blue skies on Monday reflected somehow on the matted paintwork and made it look quite blue!

So couple of things on the go.

Found a chap who owns a TR4 in Conifer green and he is positive thats the colour of Scruff, as his looked the same, (colour wise!), pre restoration. So mystery solved it seems and some paint will be ordered quite soon. Valencia indeed... Though as mentioned before, I dont think my camera did you guys any favours in helping to ID the colour, thanks for your efforts and suggestions!

Secondly, on the road to getting her re registered. Some poor bugger has to come out from his office at the DVLA to inspect the car and verify it's true identification. Apparently no big deal and the registration will be kept.

Lastly, does anyone know the goldseal engine number 'range', indeed, do they differ from standard? I know they do on Austin, Morris, etc. Quick glance under the thick oil all over the lump says it is indeed PAINTED gold but as we allknow this could mean little other than a nice paint job at some point. Prefix on Scruff is RD and ends with E. Cheers!

Dan
