i agree , i am impressed by Jon knowledge, and thank you all for your help i am waiting for a confirmation from an other forum member who lives closer to my country, but it seems that he possess all the necessary parts to finish my project . Wait and see... other question : does anybody know the dimensions of the rod between the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch fork ?( length and diameter) i though it was delivered with the slave cylinder .....bad luck . |

Hello, Today my dolo made it's first few miles since a long time , and with a manual gearbox things to be made : - improve the clutch bleed -put a tunnel over the box (it was hot in the car, despite windows open -make an overdrive wiring |

Not so well i learnt yesterday , when guessing about a little noise in the clutch area , that there is a small ballbearing on the crankshaft extremity for manual gearbox ...that doesn't exist when auto gearbox fitted No i know what i will do next saturday ..... |

You mean the pilot bearing in the end of the crank.... yes that's pretty crucial. Some are just a plain phosphor bronze bush and some have a needle roller bearing. Just a push fit in the end of the crank. At least you can check for leaks on the rear crank oil seal... Jonners |

i've already changed the rear crank oil seal , thanks for advise do you think it is possible to put the gearbox out without disconnect steering ? |

The steering is completely separate from the gearbox. |

yes , of course , but the gearbox doesn't come it is blocked by the gear lever at the rear , despite the fact i have unscrewed the engine support device and i don't kow how to separate the lever from the gearbox (single rail) |

At the base of the lever is a sprung collar held in place with one or 2 small bolts. Undo those, rotate the collar and the lever will lift up and out. This is all of course under the plastic tunnel tray and carpet, which I assume you have taken out? With the pilot bearing in place you need to be very careful aligning the clutch plate. I use an old input shaft to do this. Jonners |

made a few miles today . with its auto differential , it makes a long ratio , but the engine seems to be happy with it . If you see a 1850 on motorway at 130 mph , maybe it's me |

Have a look at this site... http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/gearspeed/ With the figures for your diff and 155/80 tyres you are on 25.9 mph per 1000 in top. Most dolomites on SU carbs wont hit max revs in top gear as they are too weak. If you pull the choke it goes a bit faster but I expect you will max out around 110 with only an 1850 on about 91 bhp. I could just do 110 in a TR7 engined car with HS6's on a 3.63 diff.....but in overdrive. I dont trust it passed 100 in direct 4th. We dont have many roads in the south of the UK now where its safe to find Vmax....so its a while since I tried it. Jonners |

I think he was too busy and did forget about it. He did put away a cover aside but only had to look for a tray with a decent boot around it. I can ask if he has time to look for it saturday???? Jeroen |
