Header tank - wont it be too low to be used as a "header" tank. It will be lower than the highest point on the engine? How will the system bleed? Just a thought.
Everything else sounds cool.
Pressurised IIRC - It just works :D
I agree with Ian, the header tank needs to be higher than the engine
unless you have a bleed screw at the highest point (various French cars have bleed screws fitted to their top radiator hose or
heater nose to overcome the shortcoming of a low radiator position).
Judging from photos in Retro Cars, the radiator top is higher than the engine in Nissans.
In your Dolomite it is much lower.

Given that you will have to work at fitting bespoke hoses, adding a separate header tank is the way to go......?

Gauge questions....

Fuel - Leave as is.

Temp - Use triumph sender ( ive got one here )

Volts - Converted into the back of the nissan alt ? - Is that possible?

Revs - Piece of p155 should work shouldnt it ? - works on plus or minus right ?

That notty problem of the speedo - Soloution found.

This speedo.

with this sender that sits on the prop.

Well I'm now £370 ligher :(

Just bought these :D SHINEYS!!! Trick speedo that works off the prop bolts to work out the speed - couple of adjustments on the back and you work out a calcuation bobs your uncle.

And then I bought the matching rev counter otherwise I wouldnt be able to cope with them not matching!

I don't mind - They are retro and shiny

Shiny matt black eh? Nice dials, aren't those the same type as seen in the Red-Top Toledo as just sold by the TDC Chairman? I saw the photos of that car and thought how how good they look in its dashboard. 8)

Well done James, looking good.

I am glad you went for the instruments - they are expensive but are worth it. A doodle to calibrate too.

They just suit.

Would look even better with Mk1 stag Volt and temp ( thinner needles)

Which of the early type temp gauges do you need? Calibrated in degrees C (as the Dolly one pictured below) or simply marked C-N-H-?
I think they're the same as original Dolomite ones, in which case I have some here that don't work but whose faces could be swapped over if the ones you have sweep from left to right with the needles hanging, not facing up like those in late Dolomites.

I could simply send needles and faces to keep postage cost down to large letter.

Propshaft time:-

I need to make an adaptor so that the rear diff suits the S13 prop flange and then lengthen the rear section of the prop by 98mm :)

I was hoping to use the rear section of the Dolomite prop but I don't thin it will handle the power of the CA :(

Anyhow onwards and upwards :)

Thanks again to Rads S13 and Paul_S13 for their help with this project :)

Dan

As for the mount, the gearbox one is 6mm plate with a 4mm angle plate to keep strength :) Mounts onto the original dolomite holes too :)

The engine mounting plates are 6mm with 5mm right angles, probably ott but I like to over spec if I can :)

Also the engine mounting plates are getting supports added from underneath to help burden the load from the front of the subframe :)

That was the only bit that had me scratching my head there. Looked like it was just resting on the chassis rail. Looks good anyway!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
