front anti roll bar fitted, annual oil+filter change 1600miles this year!, coolant flush and new anti freeze (2years since the last one) air filter. Cheap motoring! Also finally got an agreed valuation insurance policy on the little car, thanks to the Dolly clubs valuation service!

This winters project will be the n/s front wing, which has started to bubble up nicely, i'm in no doubt it will be eyebrow panel gone, top of the inner headlamp panel and the front bit of the wing. Now I do have a salvageable Dolly front wing in stock although i'm seriously considering the clubs fibreglass offerings.

Currently i'm thinking I shall utillise one of the clubs grp eye brow panels, after remaking the headlamp panel, along with the white mostly rust free wing end.

the anti roll bar! Probably over kill on the 5 ton axle stands!

Great work here. Nice to see a car evolve steadily during continuous ownership.

Matt has your car been featured in Toledo 2 - 4 in Dolly Mixture? If not, I am sure Rob would really appreciate an article (no matter what size) from you and what you are doing?

Keep up the sterling work.

Little more progress

Thanks to the Alun Nicholas and the excellent club panels service I have a GRP eye brow panel! First job was to drill out the spot welds and remove the remains of the original eye brow. I've also chopped of a bit of the front panel so I can do another small repair.

trail run, excellent fit!

cut out the rotten headlamp mounting panel and remade it. I'm not quite happy with it yet, a bit more work needed.
Image
Although the nose panel looks in good nick there is quite alot of surface corrosion on the inside of the panel that will need treating before I go any further.

cut out the bottom of one of my spares wings and welded it on
Image
ignore the splodgy welds on the valance, i had to weld up a few pinholes!

also fitted these:

Looking good... Are you going for the original colour? I am biased but I do like how yours looked prior to the strip-down!!! I keep saying it but my Toledo needs some very similar treatment damn soon  Please keep us posted with this exciting restoration...

Yup its going top be original color but this time one shade of Carmine red rather than 12! I will update as the process goes on. It was long over due a respray but its only now i've managed to save enough to get it done!

Some more progress, Keith is doing an excellent job. As more paint comes off the car is proving to be every bit as solid as it always appeared!

Small repair at the bottom of the rear quarter panel

Few holes welded up on the boot lid

Quite interesting to see this side of the car, in the history that came with the car I have an insurance claim from 1984, where the previous owner drove into a gate post, scraping the 2 doors and the rear panel. Due to the age the insurance company didnt want to fix it, but there are plenty of letters to and from the PO and insurance company. Eventually due to the very good condition of the car it was put in to a body shop for repairs. 2 new doors and a partial respray. Seems the repair was a pretty decent standard!
