well mart,

I have to admit that looking back over your recommission work on PUS, i can honestly say its an absolute tonic to see whats achievable with a little dedication and the obvious experience your time with this marque has given you.

Inspirational is an understatment :)
Thanks. :D If you look back a bit further you can see:-

THJ
PFJ
BFR
SFB

All the same but different colours.

Yes I've seen the previous resto's and very nice they are too(especially the Magenta) but Pus caught my attention due to the obvious comparisons with the one i have.

Original early short-bumper Toledos did not have the hole, for obvious reasons! I guess its possible you could have stumbled on one of those!
I will dig out my Tolly partslist and see if theres a separate part number.

 almost obvious when such a piece of info is shared

I wonder how may Toledo wings have been drilled to suit and I wonder how many wings have had the hole welded up to suit. More of the former no doubt

The First Toledo (1970?) is the first incarnation of the "Dolomite" wing though it must be very close to the date of the first 1500FWD. So there are theoretically 2 different wings from the outset however it would make sense (to me at least) to productionise the hole-less wing and then drill a hole if building a FWD long bumper car and later a Dolly. This may even have continued long after the demise of the short bumper in 72 or thereabouts since there would still be a need for spares for earlier cars.
The question now is, does anyone have a NOS factory wing WITH a hole in?

Steve

Ah! right. I thought about the short-bumpered Tolly but thought that the Tolly wing was slightly different from the Dolly.

Onwards...the shell returned today. I now have lots of jobs to do. :D :(

Three weeks to drill a hole in a freshly painted wing......normally the car would have been finished by now. You OK Mart :bluewave: ?

Looking forward to seeing this one come together, always had a bit of a soft spot for late model Inca Yellow Sprints

Yea, I'm ok Malc, thanks for asking. :)

I've had a spot of DIY to do recently, new bathroom suite for one. So VHK has taken a back seat for a few weeks. I'm hoping to make a start on it tomorrow. :wary2:

Mart, I had a lady in the shop yesterday and I knew I'd recognised her, but couldn't think from where.... Just dawned on me it was your Mary!

Tell her I said hi (eventually! LMAO)!

How's the resto going?

I had planned to do a lot at the weekend, unfortunately my clutch didn't arrive on Friday. But I did get as far as I could...

Image

I thought I'd take this pic as I was just so calm & relaxed. The sun was shining and it was sooo peaceful and I was pottering around in my garage. 8)

Anyway, the clutch arrived today so I was able to make progress this evening...

On replacing the starter I remembered that I had the, 'til now, legendary spacer. Of all the Sprint starters I've removed over the last 30+ years, I've never come across one. Before fitting I measured it up & made a template if anyone needs the dims.

All being well we will attempt to reunited engine , gearbox & front suspension tomorrow evening.
