Bit done today!

Slapped a load of seam sealer in the front.

Cleaned up the spring. Took ages, someone had also slapped a load of underseal on it too for some reason, which had set solid, so it took its time but i got most of it clean.

First coat then went on. Its bloody hard to brush paint springs i tell you.

Hello folks.

A bit has happened since last post, only a brief one from me though.

I managed to drop the camera and it was a drop it didnt survive. I ordered a new one but the useless seller managed to actually forget about their ebay listings so its still not here!

Got a rubbishy phone photo to update the situation...

This is how the dolomite stands as of today:

Passenger side of the front end is now done. Yesterday i managed to weld in a big patch on the inner wing, make and weld in a new drivers side strengthener beam (if thats the right term) and weld in new metal underneath where the headlamp locates. I then ran out of gas and wire simultaneously so i spent today buying that.

Ive just got to make a new rearward bit for the headlamp, weld the frontward panel back in and then i can weld the valance on. How about that?

Then i have sills and doorsteps to worry about, but it does mean i'll have a solid front end!

More to come soon hopefully, when i have a fully operational camera.

I can only echo what Jim has said, you are doing a great job of replacing everything that the last 36 years of British weather has done to this car. Excellent work. 8)

Your car is currently looking suspiciously like another Dolly sat in our garden at the moment... The red oxide is almost in the same places too!

Fantastic work, so many different "trades" being employed to get this car roadworthy all by done by the hand of the owner (Jono).

Love those Escort lights too.

Top job Jono. You might need to get the speedo recalibrated. You should've got the early 1850 instruments like mine.

I'm not a fan of the MK1 Escort lights but it's your car at the end of the day so you can have it how you like. The main thing is that you're saving it. The Sprint dizzy conversion is highly recommended. It will make your life so much easier even if you stick with the points and condenser. Are you going to stick with the Sandglow or are you going to change the colour? At this rate, you might have yours back on the road before mine. One thing to watch out for is the rear dampers. They will only go on one way because the top plates are angled. Somebody did a thread about it which was timely for me because I'd replaced mine at the time so I was able to avoid that particular pitfall.
