Hi again, you may remember me from such threads as;
- aaaarrrgghhh overheating
- Help! No brakes!
- Help!!! Diff Noise

and other such threads as a youngster with a dolomite.

I have no returned to the Triumph fold with a 1300 fwd I purchased by chance with my girlfriend as a weekend car. There is every chance it has been pictured here before so shout if you know it!

Gearshift bushes from the club
I'll have a look how many conversion sets I've got, and see if I can spare one, otherwise ebay, but make sure it is for fwd, not herald, or Dolomite as the "sump gasket" is a different thickness

Made some progress over the last couple of weeks. Got hold of the bits I needed although some are still in the post.
The door cards still had their original plastic on from the factory as some do but moisture was getting trapped against the vinyl and getting mouldy so I took the decision to remove them.
Image

and whilst I had everything off the door I saw to the plastics. They were ridiculously faded and very crusty so I went for a satin black (with a plastic primer) to hide the damage and fit in with the rest of the black in the interior.

The cards came up great after a clean

and I think the result is a huge improvement!

Also made a start getting bits fitted to the engine bay. Anyone know what that thing sat in the sump is? Looks like a thrust washer but bigger....

MMMMM, 1300 FWD. :eyes4u:
I have a few conversion sets and parts of, free to good home.
The door trim piece should be the same colour as the door card.
If your diff continues complaining I also have a spare box which you are welcome to as long as I take yours in exchange, I'm in Hants so not too far from you.
The bit in the sump look like half a piston ring (is it metal?)

Does the bit of metal have a step on it? A close-up pic and measurements would help if it's important to know.

The conversion set is the name for the gasket set to fit the lower half of the engine.
You can get 'top hat' bushes for the gear lever, Mick dolphin used to sell them but I think he sold out.

But why "conversion" ? it is because the original one is known to fail ?
Where can the "top hat" bushes can be found ?
Thanks
G

PS: sorry to hijack the thread ...

OH and there is a nice white TC here in France for 900€ so arround 700£ could be a great source of parts for you :

-TrustNo1 I was aware of the correct colour for the door cards but didn't like it! And the diff was on my old dolly which now lives on the isle of man.
Conversion kits, I have one now but if I get stuck I'll give you a shout. Thanks!

Trubac, that TC is nice! Far too nice for a parts car, and probably better than mine! (A lot more expensive too!)

And yes turns out it is a piston ring!

Thanks all, expect more updates soon as we are flying along....
