Well done! You've made a fantastic job of that.

Got the drivers Renault 19 Leather seat in, really pleased with it, the driving position for me is much better, being 6'2" the slightly lower seat gives me a bit more head room. Passenger one still to do.

Renault do or have made some nice leather chairs over the years,
I had a 21 turbo for a while and the leather seats were among its many excellent features.

Yes I like that seat, suits the car perfectly style wise as it doesn't look too modern yet remaining not too retro. Can't be many R19s (with or without leather) these days though?

You're right they do seem pretty scarce, when I got the seats they did not have headrests & I couldn't find a pair anywhere, even posted on the Retro Renault forum but not joy.

I took a punt & purchased some Megane headrests off ebay, which sort of fitted with a bit of modification. Just need to treat leather as the drivers bolster is a bit worn.

Am thinking about getting the standard rear seats recovered in black leather to match, we have a local car upholsterer in Andover so plan to get a quote.

Be ready for a shock, new leather is NOT cheap! Why not use the Rover back seat? Or did you only get the front ones?

I couldn't get the rover seat to fit safely, since I have the kids in the car alot I didn't want to risk it

I had a set of seats done in leather quite reasonably a few years back, well, half leather, relying on the existing vinyl panels being retained. Sold them to RON1966 at cost in the end, about £360 if memory serves me.

I still have a driver's seat frame here with your name on it Tony...

Yeah I have seen the seats in RON & they look good, was planning on a similar thing, to keep the vinyl lower part. If leather is too expensive may look at vinyl.

Yes I would still like the seat frame Alun, but I am OK for the moment as I got 1 from Geeksteve which I fitted to the drivers seat & I have pinched the one of the dolly drivers seat for the passenger seat, but would like yours to replace the dolly seat one, if that makes sense? So no rush, hoping to make the national dolly day in September so maybe pick it up then.

The 360 was for all four seats, so I don't think just the rear would be prohibitive. There is a lot of sewing to replicate the original pattern; have a look at the W&P car for a simpler design that may suit your renault seats better...

Good idea, those back seats do look pretty similar to the R19 seats, thanks.

I remember vinyl seats as a child, red hot in the summer. Oddly Mum's 1500FWD was much better than the Chevette that replaced it. Either way I'm glad vinyl isn't in cars any more.

Didn't the 1500 FWD have perforated vinyl? It could of been this that made them more comfortable? The red vinyl seats in Dad's Morris 1300 meant your legs would stick to the seats - ouch!

Passenger R19 seat fitted, both cleaned & conditioned with liquid leather, shame you can't smell it!

Steve you are right new leather not cheap, best quote I have had for the back seat is £450, so going to leave it for now.
