well`got an upgrade bosch alternator fitted to browny, works great :D ...voltage gauge moves more quicker then before and switch on lights and sounds gauge, hardly moves
i wont be buying new lucas alternator ever again for browny £75 quids worth dead just over 2years (barely 6000miles)...and guess when the guarantee ran out.....one thing i did notice that new lucas was lighter then the old original one..could that be down to cheap parts or something else?

I think todays 'Lucas' ACR style alternators are actually el-cheapo Chinese copies. Note how there is no 'LUCAS' brand embossed on the rear plastic cover. They are available in my local auto-electrical outlet for approx €55 plus VAT. Seems like they sell a few as they are used on older tractors. One lasted just 3000 miles on my Dolly 1300, the stator shorted to the frame but luckily it was daytime and I got home from a vintage run on battery power. Running another one of these alts now since and all ok so far. Difficult to get a genuine Lucas ACR now. At least they are cheap!
