Chris, the photos you uploaded directly I've just resized and uploaded in the intended order (you have to attach the last one first and work back). When I resize the photos, I alter the horizontal size to 1024 pixels and keep the same aspect ratio. That way they can be easily viewed on most peoples' monitors. Even on my 24" monitor some of the uploaded photos are too big. The resized photos don't lose picture quality and takes less space on the forum server but it is best to use a hosting site as you only need to upload the same photo once.

With Flicker, on each photo I click on the arrow at the bottom right to share the photo and a box pops up. Click on "BBCode" and the URL beneath will be highlighted. Right click on it, select copy and past the copied URL into your forum post and it will appear on the screen. I had to edit the URL as it includes some extra links and we just need the photo. I hope this makes any sense. I've included a photo which should help.

I'm sure the Club did repair panels for the bottom parts of the front wings. In any case, a repair section should be easy enough to fabricate. Please ask if you need any help. You've come to the right place and there's no such thing as a stupid question. Your Mini experiences should stand you in good stead (I had a 1978 Mini 850 back in 1993). You've got some decent facilities there. I could get more done if I had access to such facilities (I don't even have a garage any more).

Keep up the good work.

Toledo Man, Thanks for all your help with the pictures i do now understand. Yes I am very lucky my company allow me to use the workshop to tinker at weekends as long as i tidy up after myself for Monday. If you lived closer you would be welcome to bring a car in but as we live so far apart it probably wouldnt work. I realise it must be a real struggle without a garage especially at this time of year and credit to you for perservering

Yeah, I did lose my "mojo" for a while to the point that I didn't post anything for several days. It is returning now I'm using the car a bit more. I've had some time off from work (using up the last of my holidays) so I've been able to give the car a bit more use. I've even spent money on a full set of Super Flex subframe bushes because it makes sense to renew them while the subframe is being removed to have the mount fixed. It has been patched up previously during my ownership so the only permanent cure is to have replacement metal grafted in courtesy of a sound secondhand inner wing from a scrap car. The club repair kit might not cover it once the previous repairs have been unpicked.

Getting back to your Dolly 1300, you will need to get the outer sill(s) removed to properly assess the extent of the corrosion. Plenty on here will vouch for the club sills. They're worth every penny (as are the other club panels).

Well, due to working pretty much solid from Xmas Eve to New years Eve ( gritting and snow clearing, i am on call ) all my plans went out of the window. Still i have had a good morning today "pottering" and just having some quality time with my Dolly
took the passenger door off and de bogged it, its just salvageable and will have to be for now as my budget is needed on more pressing things.
I get paid tomorrow so will be paying my membership and joining the club. Then i am in the process of sorting an exhaust and if that doesn't prove to costly will be ordering new outer sills from the club
Does anyone have a front passenger side indicator/side light lens spare that i could buy Please?
All for now
Chris

Had a good day Saturday now work has calmed down a little.
Fitted one of the two outer sills I bought from the club, which are excellent quality. Also welded a fabricated plate in the rear arch as pictures show.
Really impressed with how well these sills fit considering they are pattern and one is now on and welded up the next one this Saturday
Also fitted the Sprint wheels I recently bought ( Thanks to Mad Mart for helping out with the right size wheel nuts)
I bought 7/16 by mistake needed 3/8
I think the car looks so much better now the wheels are on and the pie cans have been shelved
Still need a O/S rear wheel arch repair and am currently still searching
Please, any comments on the work so far, good or bad is always appreciated Pics to follow
Chris

After fitting the other sill and some small patch welding i now have an MOT on DHG!!! just in time for summer well chuffed.
There is still lots to do but i always wanted this to be a work in progress while i use and enjoy
A couple of advisory notes play in wheel bearings at front I have still not been able to source rear wheel arches so i have had to fill for now
Pictures are of our maiden voyage today post MOT
Hi All
Not been on for a while but have been busy fetling I have a week off so have decided to give DHG a new coat of paint a few pics of her ready to go under the gun
As you can see i have my apprentice checking the inner sills She does lack concentration from time to time though which is a shame as shes an excellent welder!!

The spraying is going well, as the pictures show, yesterday i got the primer on (3 x coats ) and then last night flatted it out. Not sure whether i needed to do that prior to top coat but hey its only elbow grease.
So i was back in the work shop first thing and have applied 2 coats of top coat as i write this i am waiting to get another two coats on today and then give it a week to harden off.
Do people think 4 coats is enough as i will remove one coat flatting and cutting later?? Advise would be greatly appreciated
I have decided to change the colour as i was never truly sure what the original was. I think it was Vermillion? but seemed a little to orange? Any how i have opted for BMW Inka Orange which i really love on the old 2002's from the 70's
I will but door trims back on in matt black which i hope will go well with the orange
More pics post top coat.

I hope you didn't mind me merging both threads. It makes sense to have it all in one thread. Your Dolly is looking good. Do you fancy having a go on mine? It is badly in need of a decent paintjob. This is what mine looks like at the moment.

I only got mine through the MoT last week.

At a guess your car was originally flamenco. This replaced pimento from late 75 through to 77.

Then Vermillion replaced it. I have a pimento car which has occasionally had a flamenco and vermillion bonnet fitted.

They all look the same from 20 feet...:-)

Having driven this very car (under the previous owner's custodianship) it definitely wasn't vermillion so it will have been flamenco (same as SFB, one of the Mad Mart restos).

The paint code on the VIN plate says CAD.
I havent seen any Dolomites this colour but i have seen the odd Spitfire
The pictures of the car in its original colour always look more red than it actually is. Its more of an orangey red. I always presumed it was Vermillion
Its new colour is BMW Inka Orange ( like the old 2002's where always painted

I've just checked my parts catalogue and CAD is indeed Flamenco.

Chris, have you still got the steel wheels? I'm after a set if they're available. I'll catch you at the TDCIR if you're going.

It was good to meet you at the TDCIR. A shame your electronic ignition died on you. I had the same one on mine and it has been perfect from day one. It was lucky I had a set of points and condenser in my glovebox to get you going again. I hope you made it back to Bolton. For what it costs, it would be worth getting another one. THIS is the one I bought for mine.
